Might not be too late. Nishikori up a set and a break in only 50 minutes. Last match might start still on Friday.

That looked like hard court Rafa from a decade ago, except without the footspeed. I have no idea how he plans to peak in time for New York.

Nishikori beats Nadal 6-2, 6-4.
For anyone who saw that match, did Nishikori beat Nadal as easily as the score seemed to indicate?

Nishikori dictated the rallies and was moving much better than Nadal. Nadal's serve was pretty awful but thats probably the big key to him ever winning big titles again is to really get a top level serve. He needs more cheap points, his service holds never seem easy.

Serena was really awful on her serve tonight and Bencic takes advantage. Bencic is probably the best young player on tour.

Vasek qualified for Cincinatti and has advanced to the 2nd round. Dimitrov next and Murray after. Dimitrov should be quite winnable.

Well start the accusations of match throwing, but Kyrgios could have faced Kokkinakis in the next round in Cincy, instead he gets destroyed and looks barely interested in playing losing 6-2, 6-1 to Gasquet.

When do the "You look stupid" chants ala WWE Sheamus start for Kyrgios? US Open?

Vasek loses in two tiebreakers to Dimitrov. Would have been a very nice win.

That's a tough one, but it shows me that Vasek has the game to be a top 20 player, he just needs to stay healthy.

I'm personally amazed Stan managed such a warm handshake after retiring with a bad back. what's funny is how Sportsnet didn't even attempt to mute or interrupt Kyrgios' tirades about the line calling, etc...he was just straight dropping F and BS bombs while the commentators merrily eavesdropped along with everyone else.

Just catching up, but in unsurprising news, Sportsnet's production was pathetic. They should have just stuck to using Tennis Channel coverage. But their mic placements were great... they caught Ivanovic cursing after missing a shot, then replayed the scene, including curse.

SportsNet tennis commentary is about as delightful as stabbing your earholes repeatedly with the cheapest imitation q-tips. I can't even quite put my finger on it, but it seems to range from inane Captain Obvious style banter, to flat out incorrect analysis and shoddily manufactured narratives.
who knows, maybe the tennis channel stuff is a lot of the same thing, except it just sounds a lot more convincing and dignified with a British accent.

Goddamn this has been a rough hard court season, Milos out straight sets in Cincy. No expectations now for anyone at the US Open.

I think it was Lopez who ousted Milos last year at Toronto if memory serves (he always seems to give Raonic trouble).
/Hopefully, the Canadian contingent can rebound at the US Open.

Well, Genie won the first set 7-6(2) against qualifier Bondarenko in Cincy, baby steps.

That's not tennis channel, it's just the international feed like soccer. Those guys are awesome.
Tennis channel production at grand slams is the worst thing ever heard.
