Quan Rep Leads the way
For fun I wanted to see which agents has the most 10/year contracts. Below are my findings.
Quan Rep has 4 (Hatcher, Hecht, Jagr and Lethinen)
AA has 2 (Sakic and Numminen)
GPA has 2 (Fleury and Naslund)
Green has 1 (Foote)
Also there are 7 Non trade clauses
AA has 5 (Hejduk, Lecavalier, Selanne, Frenadandez and Datsyuk)
Quan has 2 (Bondra and Koivu)
THe rest have none.
Just found that to be interesting. Carry on with your day.

Overall money leaders:
Quan - 18.594
GPA - 18.192
Anarchy - 9.928
Mean Green - 5.081
All that restructuring a while back has really come to bite me in the ass. I had Peca, Demitra, Fedorov, and Murray all pending UFA's this year.
The Roloson contract hurt me as well.

You still have a few guys left no? If so you will start to pull away.
I am done for this summer. My number really won't increase at all anymore unless I sacrifice next years UFA group and sign them all long term right now.
It is a tricky thing. I thought a year and a half ago that Rod Brind' Amour's career is pretty much done in the NHL, so at the time I threw out his current deal and replaced it with a 3 year, $14.25 deal. Had I known what I know today, he could have easily gotten 8-10M this past July.
The CBA was also a question mark. Next summer will be different though. We know exactly what the landscape will be for July 2007.

I have a few RFA's that need signing but other than that I am done. So I think the numbrs will not change much. The only problem is that the CPHL CBA is set to exprire next season (I think) and we will ahve to see where the new cap level will be set at.

I get the indication from the new leadership that the cap is on its way down.
Maybe it is in our best interest to extend all pending UFA players in 2007 to long term big money deals right now.
Do you know the exact date when this thing expires?

Two-year, single-network TV deal announced
From Press Release
March 19th, 2006
05:00 PM EST
Waterloo, On. – The CPHL announced the completion of comprehensive broadcast agreement that will benefit the league and its fans for the next two years. Under the new two year agreement CPHL games will be broadcast on the Spike TV network beginning in September 2006.
"CPHL's new network agreement marks a historic moment for the entire Fantasy community," said CPHL Chairman and CEO Dayel Peterson. "This is a major accomplishment for the CPHL GMs, agents and the Commissioners that have made this sport what it is today. It represents a significant reward for the competitive fantasy hockey world our fans have come to expect. It also validates the marketing and production enhancements our current media partners have brought to the sport.
"The new broadcast partnership is also good for the fans because they will have so much more CPHL content from a player’s perspective," said Peterson.
The CPHL expands its relationship with CalgaryPuck, while welcoming Spike into the family," said CPHL Vice President of Operations Cameron Schuler the 2nd. "By signing deals with a media company that sees itself as a Mans domain, the CPHL will meet the growing nationwide fan demand for more CPHL content for the next two years," Schuler said.
"Spike is extremely excited to begin its relationship with the CPHL for the next two years, and come 2008 be known as the official television home of Fantasy Hockey, by far the most played online game in this country," said Spike TVs President Doug Herzog. "Our production team has done an amazing job over the last few years to put Spike TVs broadcasts on par with America's most popular channels, and we look forward to pushing the production envelope further as we move forward."
The deal between the Spike TV network and the CPHL is a two year package which will run between the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 seasons.
The financial breakdown is as follows:
Total financial value: $640,000,000 over 2 years or $10,000,000 per team per year. $1,000,000 of the fee per team will be allotted to the Farm Teams. Each CPHL team will have a salary cap of $58,000,000 plus the $9,000,000 TV allotment for a total of $67,000,000 for the next two years.
Looks as if it expires in 2008 and not 2007. Which means next summer will be complete madness just like this one.

I believe in the Pony Power

If any changes to the cap are coming down the pipe rest assured everyone will have plenty of notice. Moreover, since it was a 2 year deal for the last TV contract one can expect it to be the same for the next off-season.
