Pertry has terrible numbers, what you expect? Worst defensemen of the oilers team this year in the plus-minus and he had a bad year in the plus-minus last year too. Can someone remind me how this guy got a salary of over 3 millions per year, like seriously??

You can't always bring up the excuse of the bad team in front of him to explain every single bad numbers he has. Good on the habs for one reason... it's a rent until the end of the year and he becomes UFA at this end of this year so they won't have to worry about paying him up next year.

Do the conditions go higher than a third?

Great planning by the oilers as well knowing that this day would come and using the waiver wire to pick up available players who can fill the void... wait... what?

I think Perry will be successful in Montreal and will eventually be a much better player somewhere else. its the oilers way.

Market for Petry was fairly cool, and at no point was a first round pick a possibility in return.

Looks like it stops at a third depending how far the Canadiens go into the playoff round.

@JonathanWillis: Hextall got more for a 39-year-old who hasn't played since April than MacTavish got for his best defenceman.

LOL

Petry is nothing special and I don't know if he would even be top 4 on a lot of teams but he was the best defenseman on the roster and now the Oilers now have to replace him and sell the fans that they will be better next year. Really surprised they didn't take a flyer on Erixon.

I think people are about to be really impressed by Petry when put in a position to succeed in Montreal.

More magic beans for the Oilers to waste.

I obviously haven't been paying to much attention to the Petry trade rumours, but I am shocked that anyone thought he might get a 1st round back in a trade. I'm surprised that he even got back more than a 2nd rounder.

Compared to the Sekera and Timonen deals, that's a pretty bad return. Plus we all know how atrocious Edmontons draft record is.

Petry will be way better in Mtl. Another guy whose career has been sidelined in that tire fire. I hope we look at Petry as a free agent.

According to Rishaug, Petry turned down $4 million per for 4 years from the Oilers.

Not surprising, they'd have to pay a lot more. Add at least a mil or two for having to endure the walk through the booing fans to get to the dressing room.

Yeah that is my feeling too.

Petry wanted out, wasn't going to re-sign in Edmonton.
