CJSW - 30 Years At The Left Of The Dial!
Don't forget to pledge to CJSW from October 24th-31st! Funding drive details to follow:
http://cjsw.com/
We're partnering up with CJSW to close out their 2014 Funding Drive with one hell of a party this Halloween at the #1 Royal Canadian Legion. Yes, 17 different Calgary bands will perform a song each from Canada's 3rd best selling album of all-time, Big Shiny Tunes 2! Upstairs? 90s music videos ALL NIGHT LONG!
Participating artists include Jung People doing Marilyn Manson's " Beautiful People," Kris Ellestad doing Radiohead's "Paranoid Android," Catholic Girls doing Prodigy's "Breathe" and 36? doing Age of Electric's "Remote Control!" Other participating artists include: Kevin Stebner (Cold Water/Greyscreen) and Micah Stone (RapX), Evan Wilson & Wayne Garrett, Divepool, Windigo, Shaani Cage and more! The full list shall be revealed soon(-ish)!
While there's certainly a lot of fun to be had this Halloween, we'd like to think a two floor 90s party might just be the best thing yet?
$10 ticket - available soon at Sloth Records, CJSW and zoobis. Proceeds go to the cost of the event and towards CJSW's funding drive!

http://cjsw.com/funding/
This year’s fundraising goal of $200,000 will go towards rebuilding the website, ensuring the infrastructure is in place to podcast all of our programs. We want the project to be completed at the highest standard, and that requires a large budget to hire a designer and a full team of developers. It is a huge undertaking to create the backend of a website that achieves the vision we have. When listeners come to cjsw.com, they will be able to sort shows by genre, type, and other categories. We also want a responsive event calendar and Friends Business listings, among other things. This kind of project can’t be completed properly without a talent pool that requires a fair chunk of change. Our stretch goal of $230,000 will be allocated equipment for the live band room. For years we have been attracting artists from around the world to play live on-air. With a new investment into the space, we will be able to give a one-of-a-kind experience to artists and listeners alike.

Beloved campus and community institution CJSW celebrates 30 years on FM dial
http://calgaryherald.com/entertainme...ars-on-fm-dial
It remains one of the last bastions of genuine weirdness, a world where alternative isn’t a buzz word or a marketing plan but a very real, and very encouraged trait among the 250 volunteers and six full-time staff members that power it to 20,000-or-so Calgarians at any given time. And that listenership, as weird, wonderful and diverse as the programming itself, is so appreciative of its existence that, last year alone, it pledged $250,000 during the station’s annual funding drive to keep it on the air and to even help boost its reach by taking it from 4,000 to 18,000 watts.
No longer the young ’n’ snotty upstart, it’s an established, professional and important part of the landscape, and one of the most successful stations of its kind in all of North America.
Five years ago, the station moved into multi-million dollar new digs upstairs in the MacEwan Student Centre, which feature offices, several state-of-the-art production studios, a recording studio for live sessions by local and touring bands, an extensive record and CD library, and an on-air booth with a view of the campus.
The passion they bring, their knowledge of and ties to the community, and CJSW’s indifference to ratings and commerciality have provided a freedom that can be heard any time you switch it on.
