After watching the pilot episode of the historic telling of the Manhattan project I can honestly say it's a well produced show that will explode your expectations. History buffs will like this quite a bit.
"Set in 1943 at the time of the Manhattan Project, the series focuses on a New Mexico town the outside world knows nothing about. The federal government tells the scientists only what they need to know, while the scientists keep secrets from their families."

History buff here...I enjoyed the premiere. I wonder how authentic the side stories are, such as the theft of secrets and the competition between factions for their work to be selected by Oppenheimer.
Yes, I'm hoping there will be some history discussion in this thread. It's really peaked some interest, but my biggest fear for Manhattan is that the writers turn it into a patriot ad for the USA. So far this doesn't seem to be the case.
Starting this tonight. Plan on blasting through all the episodes released so far tomorrow if it's decent. Had no idea this show even existed. Love this piece of history and hope they do it justice.
I really want to watch it because of the historical context, but man, some of the side stories
Spoiler!
Do the showrunners realize how non-engaging the whole Liao storyline is? When you have to go back and retrofit relationship depth with a character you killed, it's probably a good sign that there wasn't enough development of the character to make them interested and cared about.
