Hope not. 53 is a terrible number and reminds me of Derek Morris. Yuck! #13 would look so much better.

Who cares about Derek Morris. If Johnny's wearing 53, then it's his number.
That's about as dumb as certain individuals not liking Monahan in 23.

23 is so much better than 53, what an awful number.

Love that he's ahead of Drouin and Mantha on the honorable mentions

Not too shabby for a 4th round pick!
Hard not to be ridiculously excited as a Flames fan. He chose the perfect development path and now he's got the potential to cut a year off the Flames rebuild.

Who do you think Gaudreau is comparible to?
I say Gretzky actually. They aren't the fastest, strongest or best shot but they think the game so well and are so elusive. Great behind the net, great passers

I'm confident the last 10 pages of this thread are filled with names of comparable players.
Most commonly agreed upon comparison to Gaudreau is a player with Gretzky-like hockey sense with the stick work and playing style of Patrick Kane.

It seems as if he is going along the same career path as Paul Kariya.

Kariya also drew Gretzky comparisons.

If Gaudreau turns out to be like Kariya, we are all going to be happy Flames' fans.

We're going to be happy regardless, might be the best 4th round pick ever made by the Flames.

Probably better than we could have hoped for. He's the classic case of 'low risk, high reward'. Anything from Gaudreau contributing to this team going forward is pure gravy.

This thread will have to move to the Flames forum because I would wager he doesn't play a game in Adirondack. He will make it impossible for the Flames management to send him down.
