anybody have a write up on this guy: Ryan Hunter, 6'7" 210 lbs RW

http://www.ontariohockeyleague.com/roster/show/id/9298

Seems like the definition of a Burke player IMO. Not much written on him, 40 pts is low for 3rd OHL season, but even if he only end up a 3rd line player who peaks at 30-40 pts, 6'7"???

At 6'7'', if he's only getting 40 pts in the OHL against teenagers, do not expect him to get 40 pts in the NHL against the biggest, most physically fit hockey players on the planet.

Maybe, but his progression this year was pretty awesome. 1 pt in 30 last season to 40 pts in 64 this season.

11 pts in 9 games in the playoffs too.

You can't teach 6'7".

Note that it's Hunter Smith, not Ryan Hunter. ISS had him #30 in their most recent rankings and CSS has him #39 for North American skaters but he most rankings don't include him near the first round. Beyond that I don't know anything about him.

Interesting! Draisaitl is ranked 3rd overall and Ehlers has moved into 6th.

I'm really hoping the Flames can draft Brendan Lemieux with their 2nd round pick. The Flames could really use a pest/agitator who can chip in with a couple goals and this guy seems to fit the bill.

He has all the makings to be a face puncher in the NHL. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

We could use more of those types of players. Who have we got right now that's a pest/agitator? Poirier can. Ferland's more of highly skilled enforcer. Byron to an extent I suppose.

Plus, it'd be funny hearing Claude Lemieux's reaction to his son getting drafted by an old rival team.

I'd rather use those 2nd round picks on blueliners all other things being equal. We need more organizational depth at D.

2014 NHL Mock Draft: Playoffs Edition - The 1st Round (2nd rnd to follow)
Teaser:
The Top 3:

1. Florida Panthers
Aaron Ekblad
Ht/Wt: 6′ 3″/216 lbs
Position
Team: Barrie (OHL)

The Exceptional Ekblad becomes first defenseman drafted first overall since Erik Johnson by the Blues in 2006, and just the third in 18 years.Panthers get immediate help on the blueline.

2. Buffalo Sabres
Sam Reinhart
Ht/Wt: 6′ 1″/185 lbs
Position: C
Team: Kootenay (WHL)

Reinhart is in a different stratosphere when it comes to hockey IQ and hockey sense. He’ll make all Sabres he plays with better.

3. Edmonton Oilers
Leon Draisaitl
Ht/Wt: 6′ 1″/208 lbs
Position:C/LW
Team: Prince Albert (WHL)

Oilers heavily shop this pick as they see Ekblad go off the board. Draisaitl, the Deutschland Dangler, becomes highest German born player ever selected in NHL draft.

Who do he Flames pick....

Ehlers ahead of Dal Colle. Would the Islanders do that? I really really hope Dal Colle doesn't fall to the Canucks.

We're going to have Toronto's 1st from a Backlund trade

While I'd like to have TO's first, I think trading away one of our veteran centres would put the team back. Maybe if we luck out and get one of the Sam's or they think Granlund is ready, we make a move but giving up on a player who is just coming into his own makes me uneasy.

The great thing is that there are a number of really good D-men down the charts in the top 100, including a lot of D with size (6-2+)

I'd love it if we walked away with 1 of the Sams/Drasaitl/MDC + 4 big hulking D-men.
