I think Edmonton will pass us in the standings. Islanders will finish below us and we will finish 3rd or 4th. Our schedule isn't easy either.

Edmonton will stay below us for sure because their kids are trying to get the coach fired. Buffalo, Edmonton, Islanders, Florida will finish lower than us, I don't think this is an unreasonable prediction.

As far as the pick, if the first four are gone Dal Colle is the one I think.
Carolina is currently 8 points ahead, Nashville is 9 and they both hold the tiebreaker. There is almost no chance the Flames pass them.

Islanders have a good chance to stay ahead. The Oilers have been better as of late and could pass the Flames.

Pretty ridiculous stuff. Sniper shot. Controls the puck well in the offensive zone. Has a separation gear to his skating. Good playmaking ability too. He just needs to fill out a bit. Tempting prospect to be sure.

I will say that since that SO in his first game after the trade the Panthers have looked pretty bad in their last two games. I don't expect them to outplay the Flames down the stretch as say what you want about the Islanders but the Panthers are a seriously bad team/organization.

I tried posting other top 5 prospects highlights but all short videos. He looks like he can play for sure.

Avs finished 29th last year and won the lottery. I see us picking in the top 3, decent chance at lottery pick.

Now despite just calling nik out for his constant sadness and need to harden up I just want to point out in now way do the Flames win the lottery, that just doesn't happen, it's the Calgary Flames, we don't have that kind of luck. We won't win the lottery.

He's easily the most "truculent" player in the top 5. Burke probably likes him.

Yeah, he did just take a big suspension for cross checking a guy in the face, so "truculent" is definitely part of his game

Sounds like someone might go big and bold with the CP "I'll eat my pubes should......."

Who's to say Bennett is available at #3? At this point we can't make too many assumptions about who will go top two. Looks like a complete toss up at this point. Last year at this point Jones was supposedly the #1 prospect. Much like last year the top end of this draft is so close that it will come down to team preference. Considering we don't know the draft order and CHL playoffs haven't happened yet we can't be pencilling anybody in at the top end.

Watch us get Ekblad and then McDavid the following year.

Watch!

I'm really hoping we have a shot at bennett. Even if the Panthers end up below us, I could see them being interested in a power forward like Dal Colle, or another big centre like Draisaitl. I think Bennett has the potential to be a solid two way centre due to his work ethic. Anyone able to compare the speed of the top 5? how do they compare to Virtanen?

He got five games (in case that wasn't posted here), Monahan got 10 games last year so I wouldn't put too much into it in regards to truculence.

Disagree.

I don't remember being this decimated with injuries last season, nor do I believe the west was as good as they are this year. We're missing Hudler, Stajan, Stempniak, Glencross?, Jones, Ramo, and now Granlund, our young shining star. The teams around us in the standings, are much better teams at the moment IMO.

We've also got a very tough schedule down the stretch...

17 games remaining, 3 back to backs. When we're fortunate enough to play a bad team, it comes on the 2nd night of a back to back (Edmonton+Florida).

I think we go 5-12 in these remaining 17.

Well Monahan's was the OHL mandatory 10 for a headshot, no matter the circumstances. Bennett cross checked a guy in the face there's a difference there.
