I went thru the steps as if I got the email (which I didn't). It went into a setting up
screen and seemed to hang on that. I restarted my iphone and it worked. What a stupid setup process.

In fairness to the line thing, I would rather the system be stable and not like iMessage where you can sometimes do a coin flip on whether a message will send as text or iMessage.

What a joke lol, it shouldn't be this difficult. You should download the app and be ready to go. Oh Blackberry, wtf, can't even get an App right.

Hopefully once Google refines and fills out Google Hangouts we'll have a true cross platform messaging app for txt, voice and video. The fact BBM won't work on multiple devices is hilariously stupid.

Whatsapp said today they have 350 million monthly users. BBM is a lost cause.

WhatsCRAP was one of the only alternatives to join all 3 OS users together, BBM has bridged that gap in an amazing way. BBM for iOS works great with no issues whatsoever so far. I resorted to plain SMS after trying a few different apps to connect to my family that refuses to switch from Blackberry and this is flawless.

I would go as far as to use it over imessage if all of my contacts switched.

Why not just keep using whatsapp? it's the exact same thing. I have a BlackBerry Z10 and I love it. I rarely even use BBM on my phone now that everyone switched to the droid/iphone.

After adding someone who has the app:

I can now text/whatsapp/bbm/viber all my friends. Though I guess good thing for me is i can delete all those apps and just use the original bbm on my device. Only diiference is its cleaner look and PING!!!

I honestly don't see the point either. Whatsapp might not have the greatest UI, but it works and does the same thing BBM does.

Plus you don't have to ask for another users PIN number.

Yeah, the whole pin thing is so outdated. I finally got the login email this afternoon, almost 24 hours after downloading the app and go to the pin portion and just closed it. Sync with my contacts, find out who is already using it.

I'm not sure why I installed this. I finally got the email, signed up and then realized I don't actually know anyone who uses BBM any more.

So far loving this app, just has a better feel than iPhones native messaging system, and especially whatsapp, which I had been using to message my blackberry holdout friends.

I kind of hope it really takes off and I can start using it as my main messaging app if enough people use it on a regular basis.

I still don't know how this helps Blackberry at all.

If you have an iPhone and upgrade to iOS 7.0.3, sending or receiving pictures in BBM will crash the app. Awesome!

I don't think it does. They're not making any money off of it but they're paying people and the hardware to hopefully keep it running (they've obviously had issues even doing that given all the ridiculous delays).

Unless they start to charge for it/monetize it with ads and such, it will just be another pit to toss money into for BB.

I think back in the day, Balsillie was hoping to convince/demand that carriers themselves to pay for or subsidize the service in order them to continue to sell BB phones on their network. Unlikely scenario these days.
