Considering a majority of people stand up having some not standing diminihing your experience seems pretty weak but I guess everybody wants different things when they go to the game.

Wait a second, do you mean there is more than one bowl in the dome? I thought that there were only about 4 or 5 rows of seats above the power. Ring and that was it......
I suppose that makes sense, as it always surprised me how I would go to a game and see so many "beater" type junk vehicles in the lot.

most of the people that didn't stand were habs fans. There were a lot of habs fans there as most would know.
also, very hard to judge the fan reaction by what little you see on your tv screen
at the games, it has been impressive to see the crowd enthusiasm for this team. both games against Vancouver and Montreal and the mixed crowd brings out the best in the flames fans.
we'll see how the crowd is when NJ, PHX, MIN come to town

Why do the Flames Fans Never Stand Up for a Goal?
@OP Small sample size. You probably caught a shot of people in section 104? No worries, but FYI those aren't the Lay Z Boy best seats in the house, those are actually wheelchairs.

I'm in section 120 and I would say 50% of the people stand up and 50% do not. Of the 50% who do not stand up 100% are dad's with their little kids and old people.

Where I sit in 217 I would say it is 75%-90% of people that stand depending on the goal/time of game. So perhaps for me some people sitting isn't a big deal because for the most part the large majority of fans are up anyways and the ones that aren't don't impact me or my enjoyment.

Every time I go i jump up and yell. Unless it's a blowout. I've sat in all sections, and in 200 and 300 its always good. In 100, it's like I'm the only person. Last time, I was in front of a law firm suite, and they were almost horrified to see it, since I was distracting them from work. Except for the one guy who was obviously a senior partner.
...After seeing that, I'm happy I'm a lawyer in a smaller city.

If you base this on shots from last nights game its also because 30-40% of the people in the building were probably actually Habs fans.

Also, don't forget one of the goals was scored by Glencross last night. And as we all know, he has been designated this season's Flame player that is hated no matter what he does because he loves Calgary and took a giant home town discount to get a no movement clause and won't waive it to make fantasy trades work. So no way people were standing for his goal, even if it was a beauty deflection that he had to stand in front of the opponent's goal and take a ton of abuse to get.

I stood up once to watch a breakaway. The guy behind me grabbed me and told me to sit down. He was lying across the lap of his girlfriend. Nearly had fisticuffs.

The few games I go to each year I'm usually following the play and am on my feet right away as soon as the puck goes over the line. At home I have a goal light.

I was at the game last night and pretty well everyone in our section stood when the flames scored. I think the camera only shows the lower bowl people and most of the time it doesn't even seem like they are watching the game.

I watch every Flames game from here in AZ and obviously after every goal in the regular season, regardless of any team, it will have some flashes of the crowd celebrating. Seriously, from camera point of view, majority of Flames fans just sit there like they're too lazy to get up to celebrate.
Monahan scored a beautiful goal off of something he beautifully created with a great around the back pass and all I see are people just clapping and sitting in their seats.
I haven't been in Calgary since the 2004 playoffs when we had the run, but it seems so weird to see people not excited about goals anymore at the Saddledome.
I'm sorry to offend anyone, but I truly felt compelled to make a thread about it. Why aren't we as excited for goals as Jets, Canadians, Oilers, and kill me for saying this, Canucks fans?

Where is this happening, not standing for a goal. Seriously what kind of trolling is this bs.
Are people making this foolish assumption because the TV cameras from TSN and Sportsnet zero in on a the lame 1%.
We have seen games on TV where the Flames score and then when it is time to cut to camera 2 or whatever for the a crowd shot the camera man scans to Van fans Edm etc. Seriously dude its not hard at all to find Red jerseys by the masses at the Dome standing cheering, yelling, smiling, high 5'ing.
As for this garbage that Flames fans don't stand for goals what kind of blue meth is being hit.
I stand for every goal, i have never seen in my section in the lower portion of the 2nd level 1 person not stand that is a Flames fan. In fact 2 STH that are nearby are 79 and 74 years old and they get into the high 5's as well.
Maybe some people in the lower bowl don't because they feel elite or are too busy yapping but who cares.
So what they are the representative of our loyal fan base i don't think so, give your head a shake.

At the home opener the Flames got a standing ovation for having a really good shift.
Man, was that ever cool. I can't remember the last time I saw that happen.

In my section in the 2nd tier, most of the Flames fans stand for every goal, even the meaningless ones.
If you're basing lack of standing on yesterday's game, about half the fans in attendance for every game we host against Montreal are Habs fans, so they will undoubtedly not stand but sulk in their seats and mutter curses quietly to themselves in Le Francais.
