Need to ice a team in the A too.

I agree that it is unlikely that he'll ever be a full time NHLer, but Byron is a decent call-up when required. Brings speed, works hard. Never looks out of place.

It would have to be a pretty deep 48 contracts before there was no room for him, IMO

I guess Nemitsz gets another shot not willing to give up on him just yet. He is lucky they are qualifying him.

Patterson was the 2009 7th round pick who spent all of last season in Utah.

Neimisz still has the benefit of the doubt awarded to most 1st rounders.

I would love to see Bancks and Breen get a shot at some point next season.

Good riddance.
He has a good story and he has the size and tools to potentially make an NHLer. Too bad he couldn't put it together.

I hear they switched him to defence and he did pretty well.

This may be the worst news of the year.

Chris Butler will be on the Flames next year.

Sure do... so sign him or any one of a few hundred (thousand?) equally talented guys to an AHL deal and leave a open spot on the reserve list for trade/waiver/signing flexibility.

He always looks out of place. He skates fast... that is the only thing he can do well everything else is mediocre or worse. I noticed him every time he was on the ice, just not in a good way.

Not upset at any of the players the did not qualify. So many of our kids are coming in this year.

Happy that Nemo is getting another shot. But this should be his last chance. I hope he can put it together and come up to play RW after the next season.

I was hoping Butler and Byron would be gone.

Boy that Regehr trade sucked.

It did. Thankfully, the whole reason for it's existence in the first place didn't come to fruition a week later...that being Feaster clearing the books with it, for the run at B. Richards.

I figured Butler would be here because our blue line is so bad...I don't have a problem with Byron.

Man I wish we didn't need Butler. That's depressing.

I'm SO glad you said this...because after I read his comment, I heard that brutal "corny sound effect" they do after Barry makes one of his "puns"...

There's no real indication of that in Calgary. The problem here is that he likely didn't do enough to earn a spot on the 50-man. Wouldn't be shocked if he got an AHL deal though.
