Default iMac and CDs

So here I am, deciding to be a good network admin by brining in CDs to work instead of streaming audio from the internets. Me nice network admin, me no waste bandwidth!

I have to use a Mac at work and I am beginning to believe that Mac CD drives are finicky. I haven't been able to play a CD since before February when I brought a bunch of CDs to listen to. They all worked back then. Now? Nope. I put in the CD, you can hear the darned tarnation try to read the CD, and then it spits it out like the monster on Dagobah spit out R2D2... ok, not quite so aggresively.

I'm having a hard time finding good information on this on any kind of Mac forums, so I'm hoping somebody here knows a thing or two about iMac's and CDs.

I'm running OSX 10.5.7.

oh, and I can consistantly put in non audio CDs with much success.

Certainly sounds like your drive is screwy. I have a work mac and a home mac. Besides being louder than hell when burning I can't say I've ever had a problem reading discs. apple store?

Mine used to take it and then spit it half way across the room every once and awhile.

Bandwidths cheap.
