If I buy a blu-ray player.....
This one to be exact
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=A2646232
What else do I need to get to make it work? I know I need HDMI cables. How many? Are these Belkin's on the side frame good enough?
I don't have a home theater so I'm not concerned with that yet.
Thanks!

If the Blu ray player is going to be connected straight to the TV all you'll need is one HDMI cable
as for where to get the cable, you could spend the $30 on one on the dell site youve linked, or, you could get one for $3 from monoprice

If you want a Blu-Ray player, I'd recommend spending a little bit more and getting a PS3. It's not just a player, but it's also a game system and a wireless HD media player.

I'm not at all a gamer. By HD media player do you mean the brand HD-DVD or do you mean HD audio etc.?

I mean like video files you might download off the net.
I can download a bittorent movie using Vuze on my wireless network, then have my PS3 play it from my computer wirelessly.
Or I can just upload it to an external hard drive and then connect the hard drive to my PS3.

Yeah...I've tried the bittorent thing...I'm not tech savy enough and I don't have the time or energy to learn it.
I know, makes me sound dumb. I'm really not.

I've got the S350 and really like it -- the load times, in particular, are quite good and it's very quiet.
To answer your question, yes, all you need is an HDMI.

You also would need an ethernet cable to connect it to the Internet if you want BD Live functionality.

There's no point in me posting a tip as czure already covered the most important point. Monoprice is like the Jesus of buying cables online.

And if you absolutely need an HDMI cable, and can't wait to recieve one from an online vendor, you can always go to Princess Auto, they sell HDMI cables pretty cheap. Not $3 cheap though.

It isn't so long as there are bandwidth caps, and bandwidth providers are trying up what you are paying for bandwidth when their costs for bandwidth are going down.

I just bought that exact machine; got it from amazon.com for $265 iirc.
picture and sound quality is terrific; upscaling of regular DVDs is good to great, depending on which disc i'm watching; seems my newer DVDs had better results when upscaled than my older movies; don't know if there is a technical reason for this.
it does not have wireless capability; if you want that, then wait for the BDP-560 which should be out this summer
edit. amazon is now selling it for $248; you can get an hdmi cable from them in a package for an extra $10 - the cable is a little more expensive than mono-price, but you will save on shipping

Thanks for all the help everyone. I appreciate it.
I've got the thing up and running but I'm a bit confused.
Do I need the component cables if I have the HDMI?

No.
There are very rare exceptions, depending on BD player and usage, but for all intents and purposes, you will never need component cables for your BD player if you have at least one HDMI cable and a display with at least one HDMI input -- which you do.

Good grief, the question was probably already answered but they confused me by sending component cables.
I am so NOT tech savy.
