It's interesting to note that when Backlund joined Kelowna they were 25 - 18, they then went on to lose his first 4 games with the team 3 of those in OT, then went 22-2-1 in the next 25 reg season games and 10-4 in the playoffs.
It's nice to see the individual results but it's even better to see the change in the team's results.

In the middle of the season they were a very mediocre team, frustrating to watch. They are now a very confident team, I just wish that more of their playoff games fell on weekends as I'm usually only in Kelowna on weekends.

I will probably be in the minority but I hope they let him develop another year in the AHL. If he is ready and has a great training camp, thats good, but I rather he be over ready than under ready. Even half a season down their may be needed. If he is not clear top 6, let him become that. He is a cap changer if he can play top 6 minutes though.

One thing to consider is where would Backlund fit in on the top six or on our team. At centre we have Jokinen, Langkow, Conroy, Primeau and Boyd. I guess he could be shifted to wing as Iginla could use a set up man, but is he ready for that much ice time?
Of course with the returns of Bertuzzi and Cammallari up in the air, we may be begging for top line players or if the centre spot becomes to crowded, Sutter has been known to make moves to open up a spot.
I know we could use a man who can gain the blueline on the PP, is Backlund ready for that?

hitmen all the way! a well rested team against a team that has played a lot of hockey usually goes one direction...and that second team could be vancouver or kelowna

The Flames top 2 offensive players are great finishers and yet the team doesnt have one setup man. If he can come in and do that, then that would be great.

As skilled as backlund is at passing his shot is elite and IMO, is up there with Iginla and Jokinen;s shot.
