Question DivX - Burning and Playing DivX on my DVD Player?

I got a DivX dvd player. I want to take my downloaded movies (most are 700megs) and throw about 5 or 6 of them on a DVD and play them in the DVD player. I tried it tonight and they wouldn't play. Am I doing something wrong? Should I be burning them with a special software (I just dragged and dropped onto the DVD to burn them)?

The problem was how I burned it, the drag and drop burn doesn't work I had to burn it as a data disk.

Can your DVD play divx files? Some do, some don't. Also check what version of the codec it can play.

I got it working, just had to burn it differently. The DVD player plays DivX.

just get an XBox or PS3 and stream your media directly off your PC - Much more efficient than having to burn a disc each time you wanna watch a movie.

My roomie has an Xbox and does this....games are nice, but if I ever bought an Xbox or PS3 this is the reason I would do it. Very convenient.

Do you have Windows Media PLayer 11? You set it up through that.

Bah, use a external USB drive and copy the movies to that for the xbox 360. If you are only playing small divx files (like 700 meg) then a USB key even works. If you want to play WMV-HD rips, then format the hard drive to a mac partition using MacDrive.

10x better then streaming.

How so? I do not see any reduction in quality during streaming, nor do I have any issues with skipping or stuttering. So how is it better?

Clarkey, instead of a DivX DVD player, I went and bought this:

WD TV HD

Hook this up to your TV, either through HDMI or composite.
Plays 1080p movies. Takes two USB drives at the same time.

Plays pretty much every downloaded file I have thrown at it.
mkv, avi/divx, mpg.

Only drawback is if the sound is DTS, it will not down-convert to
2 channel or HDMI

It is a new product, version 1.0, and every now and then you
get to see this. It will hang if you put it in standby, you need
to unplug it, then plug it back in. This is only if I leave it in standby
for a few hours.

Amazon.com has plenty of reviews.
