Is this the sweep that will end the shootings?
Trying not to be predudice but the names of these gangsters dont seem consistent with those that have been arrested in the past from the FOB or FOB killers

I wouldn't be surprised if their parents didn't care one way or another. Or, for that matter, if the family reunion (at least with one parent) takes place in jail.

I am not sure if those are illegal or not along with even how you can buy them.

My guess is that as they found weapons along with night vision goggles that they are assuming that these were intended to be used with them towards various crimes.

Oh, and no this will not end the shootings. Big bust means less supply, means higher prices until groups look to outside sources to get their product and when they do they'll sell it at better prices, stealing customers which will lead to more shootings...

I like to think of the police and the prosecution as one team. It's not as though the police's involvement is at an end and it's up to the justice system to run its course. This year long investigation no doubt took the coordination of lawyers and cops alike and it really is amazing to see the amount of resources behind operations like this.

We read stories in the paper all the time about increased funding for police in our city and across the country. "We need more money for more cops!"

But what happens once charges are laid and the courts take charge of these cases? In this instance, we're talking about 14 gang members and over 100 charges. That's a huge case load to dump on the prosecutors in our city.

No one ever says we need more money for prosecutors. Or more judges. If anything, people are quick to criticize the overpaid lawyers and judges in our justice system, taking the to task for seemingly failing the citizens of our country and allowing the scum of the earth to once again escape punishment and pollute our communities.

Investigating crimes and laying charges is only part of the battle. Sure, throwing more money at our police forces will help out this phase but the job is not done once the Herald declares a massive gang sweep.

This is great but hopefully they all receive some tough sentences, or they'll be right back at it when they get out. Considering Canada's justice system though, I think this is a temporary victory.

I know what you are saying, and I agree with you, but I think that when people clamour for more cops, they usually intend for the cops to deter crime. Which, if it works, is ideal, because there would be less crime.
