Side banner ads
How do these get selected? For the last few days the sidebar has been this "Wonderland" free online "game" where the object is apparently to decorate your virtual house, with some anime lookin' chick standing there just DARING you to see if your inner interior decorator is up to the task - wow, that's entirely made of whee!
It hardly seems likely that anyone at a hockey forum, which is (in general) a bastion of the testosterone army, is going to click on that - where are the "50 Secrets You Didn't Know about Beer - Click Here!" or "KA-BOOM! The Online Game where you Randomly Blow up Stupid Crap some Chicka created in Wonderland!" ads?
At the bottom of the sidebar it says "Ads by Google", so I'm ASSUMING there is some kind of algorithm that decides which sites get what ads (at least, in Facebook I continually get the "Over 40 and Single? Here's a picture of some hottie babe that would like to send you spam!" ads), so what's the deal with Wonderland or that frickin' Zwinky thing that used to always show up? Does the algorithm think "CalgaryPuck" is a code word for a Barbie collector's board?
PS - yes, I know I can use firefox to block the ads. However, sneering at them every day keeps my heartrate up.
