Default Flexable Electronics? (OLEDs)

I was just flipping through a copy of last months Photonics Spectra magazine tonight and came across this little article on OLEDs that can be used for e-paper and e-books. I believe it was Bell (it was one of the telecomm companies) that wanted to make a roll-up cell phone (a cell phone that can roll up like a fruit roll-up) and was wondering how you could possibly do that.

They basically have a active-matrix of organiec LEDs and InO nanowires as an active channel material for a transistor.

Anyways, for anyone interested, this was the first real exposure I had to OLEDs (organic LEDs) and it looks pretty cool.

Check out some of the writeups for CES from this January.

Every gadget geek was creaming their pants over the OLED's that were being overseen by huge bodyguards.

There are already OLEDs in tons of cellphones and mp3 players. It's not restricted to flexible stuff. It's common technology already. It's too bad it hasn't broken past the big screen LCD cartels yet so it could replace that far inferior technology for the home theatre and computer monitor market.

Actually there was just an announcement a couple weeks ago that a company had come up with a way to reliably produce the panels on a much more efficient scale.

Bell doesn't even make phones, do they? I think you're thinking of Nokia. Check out the Morph.

I saw the 11" OLED TV at the Sony Store the other day, looks pretty cool but I sure as hell ain't dropping $2500+ on an 11" screen haha...maybe in 5 years I'll get a 52" model once the technology becomes cheaper.
