Default Paypal email

Just wanted to pass on that I received a fake email from "paypal" today, explaining to me that there were problems with my account, and to click a link to correct this, blah blah blah. A quick Google search brought up numerous links about "notification of limited access" emails that are not in fact from Paypal. I am sure most of you are smart enough to investigate things before answering the bell for these guys, but thought I would pass this along just in case it is going around right now.

So beware of "notification of limited account access" emails about Paypal.

It's a constant thing usually. I get about 5 per day in my inbox. I wonder what percentage actually fall for it though.

It's always been on my list of things to do to write a program to flood their server that farms the info with fake data.

It's got to be a huge number. The emails themselves look pretty legit. Maybe I'm just not bright enough to see something in the actual email, but they look real enough to I'm sure, make people click their links.

People that do this sort of stuff need a real beat down, no doubt about it.

Fraudulent Paypal emails look so close to the real thing. I don't deal with Paypal a lot so I almost fell for one about a year ago. Real Paypal emails will address you by your full name in their opening address.

One thing to do is forward the email to spoof@paypal.com so they can track where the phishing scams are coming from.

real paypal emails don't come with a link for you to click on to verify your account details either.
