NES 25th Anniversery
Happy birthday to the machine that raised me more then any of my family members ever did..what NES memories did you have growing up under its cartridge blowing all knowing eye?

I remember that my best friend (I was about 6) went on a trip to Hawaii and came back with one of these bad boys (the sports package if I remember correctly). The following 8 years are a blur.

To me the NES was all about Punch Out..it's one of the few games that can keep my attention today and not seem like it came out 23 years ago.

Man did I ever have to earn that thing. That was a lot of chores done, boy. All worth it when I got Final Fantasy and spent countless hours cursing the g.d. bird things that turned you to stone. Good times.

Anyone ever rock the PowerGlove? I only had one friend who had it and it looked absolutely ridiculous. Even to a 12 year old wearing acid wash jeans.

I think my uncle got it for me just before Christmas 1985. I still have the console and some games. Don't know if it still works though.

I loved my NES, wonderful part of childhood. And damn I hated that first Ninja Turtles game. Manhattan Project was where it was at.

I got my NES in 1989. The games I remember playing the most were Ninja Gaiden I, II and III, Metroid, Castlevania, Super Mario Bros and Robocop.

I made it through that level once, only to be run over by a van after I made it to the surface.

I have a lot of NES memories.
the first time I beat Super Mario. Had to use the 100 extra men exploit on 3-1 and had 1 or 2 lives when I finally worked through the puzzle that was 8-4. I remember spending hours upon hours trying to get past level -1 because a friend swore you could get to level -2
The summer I spent on Zelda 2: Link to the past
Mike Tyson's Punchout
I loved Ninja turtles, and I don't remember it being that impossible as people are claiming it is now but maybe I was just so happy to be playing it that i didn't notice.
Ultima Exodus, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy.
I remember wanting to play FF with some strange class combination (I think it was 4 monks), but my brother had a saved game he didn't want to get rid of, so I had to play straight through without saving. Those monks were crazy good, since you didn't need to spend money on weapons after a few levels. I remember even killing off 3 of the monks in the party so my highest level guy could solo the last boss, Tiamat I think?
