For those who may remember better, Mike Shaw was also Bastion Booger in the WWF. His gimmick was an overweight slob who couldn't stop eating. It was a real shame to see him in that role, because he was a natural heel who could draw the jeers of a crowd. He had the talent.
I remember M.S breaking Ed Whalens glasses and then watching the news a few days later seeing Ed's glasses unbroken and in perfect condtion, my introduction to wrestling not being real lol

Yeah, one of the best heels in the Stampede Wrestling days, along with Bad News Allen and JR Foley.
Karachi Vice was a great gimmick (still remember the yellow Tshirts they had made up), and Gamma Singh and him worked well. I like how Gamma Sign talked about all the signs coming out about Karachi Vice...well, the chants were not quite as PC.
I remember watching Stampede wrestling back in junior high every saturday afternoon on tv. Back then, it was not sports entertainment so to speak as it was presented as real. I remember seeing Gama Singh in Rundle when my buddy pointed out that he lived there....couldn't figure out why he was so nice...funny. a ring-a-ding-dong-dandy.
I remember when Stampede Wrestling used to do shows in various little towns. On one occasion a friend noticed the trucks enter town and a group of us kids headed down to the arena where the event was to be held. Spoke with many of the wrestlers as the ring was being set up. Shaw was one of them. I remember a nice guy willing to indulge us kids along with Bruce and Bret Hart. The Hart brothers showed us how to bounce off the ropes properly (arm over the rope so you don't fall through) and how they do a variety of moves including elbow drops from the top rope etc. One of the days that sticks out in my mind as a kid.
Some of the others were dicks but Shaw was not one them. RIP.
He was totally wasted in the WWF and WCW because they never let him loose on the microphone. On the microphone he was one of the best, ever, with stirring up a crowd and getting heat. I think his physical limitations would have prevented him from ever becoming a huge WWF star so they didn't know what to do with him.
If he were around today, they'd probably make him a manager because he was stinking hilarious.

This guy was 100% flab. I'll bet this has a whole heck of a lot more to do with congested heart and high cholesterol than it does with steroid abuse. This guy's character was that he was a big, angry fat guy. Nothing to do with being strong or fit. Just fat.

hahahahaha..steroids? def the opposite of a steroid abuser, love it when people remark on a person they've obviously never seen due to the stigma of wrestlers dying young.

It was sad how WWF treated most of the old Stampede Wrestling talent.

the majority made a ton of money but unfortunately were so overworked they did need to inject themselves to keep with the standards of the over muscular look of the late 80's WWF.

I never really got into Stampede Wrestling back in the day. I'd watch the last few minutes before Maple Leaf Wrestling, but never really paid attention, except for the "In the meantime, and in between time" line.
Having said that, sadly, my only memory of Mike Shaw in professional wrestling is as Bastion Booger, on of the worst characters WW(F)E ever came up with. His tights were always stained, he was always eating on his way to the ring.
I remember watching one of the TV tapings, and they were hyping one of those ice cream bars they used to sell. It was like an ice cream sandwich on a stick, with an imprint of your favourite superstar on it.
This one they highlighted had Randy "Macho Man" Savage on it. Gorilla Monsoon was talking about it, as it was held out by a fan so that the camera would catch it in all it's glory.
Then, out of nowhere, it's snatched out of the persons hands. Who has it? Bastion Booger, who proceeds to eat it on his way down to the ring.
I've heard many takes on his Stampede Wrestling days, which I regret not following closer.
