What sounds do you hate more than anything in the world?
Sitting here at work I can hear somebody chomping on their gum from over 30 feet away and it's starting to drive me nuts. I think people that chomp on gum / blow and pop bubbles may be my biggest pet peeve. The only sound that comes close for me is scraping ice off my the windows of my car.
So let your rage out on this thread. Let me know what sounds drive you crazy. Whether it's fingernails on a chalkboard, metal-on-metal grinding, mouth breathers, people that breathe out of their nose and it whistles every time, or the sound of knives and forks scraping on your dinner plate.
Not many sounds bug me, but I will mention one. This guy I used to work with did some weird ass cracking type stuff with his neck. Every lunch, he'd just sit there and crack bones in his neck or shoulders, I never could tell where the sound was coming from. After a couple weeks I finally asked him what the hell he's doing, and he said "Don't worry about it". Ugh, thank god he didn't last very long.
The buzzing sounds of bees/hornets/flies annoy me aswell. I hate waking up to the sound of a big ass hornet banging itself against the window.
- Macy Gray and the singer from Tragically Hip. Cant stand the sound of either of their voices.
- The wind banging the blinds against the window while I'm try to sleep.
- Nails on chalkboard
Good call on this one. Matthew Good falls into this category for me too - probably even tops it. I can stomach Gord Downie though because the Hip have a lot of really great songs.
My buddy lives in a crappy house that is super messy. Somewhere in their living room there is an abandoned smoke detector that has a low battery and beeps every ~10 mins. Watching any Flames games there is so annoying but funny b/c sometimes the beep comes on perfectly...Ah son of a *BEEP*. "Some kind of shot off the post..."
Booing in the dome is something that I can't stand and I have to echo the buzzing fly, mosquito, wasp sound. Oilers goal horn is atrocious. I also can't stand the Sens "Powerplay!" announcement.
