I have no problem with this to be honest. Is it wrong? Probably. Is it a safe idea, more then likely.
As long as you get moved to a equal or better seat.

Bingo. Why not move the child?

Children are a lot harder to deal with then an Adult. Do you want a kid bugging you at your job?
I fail to see what the big deal is with moving if they're moving to an equal or better seat?
It's not a right to sit where you want on a plane. It's not even a right to be served by an airline.
Just move! lol

I'm wondering what even happened to require the need for rule in the first place? Did BA have a lot of issues with men fondling strange children on their flights?

Did you read the article? We wanted to sit with his wife who was pregnant.
I don't know how long the fligher was but doesn't it make sense to be sitting with the people you are traveling with?
If this policy is in place why doesn't the airline have their booking setup so this doesn't happen? Why not ask the child to move? It seems like an over the top kind of policy.

I thought this applied to men traveling alone. Then just either move the group or the kid if it's easier.
Still don't see the big deal of moving on an airplane.
Unless you want to be as far as you can from the Snakes. But really, those ######ers are everywhere

It appears to me a total BS rule and I can't fathom from reading the article how this guy will not win his case.
He's giving any money his wins to charity too. He just wants the rule changed.
I guess it's a good thing for me that I always request the aisle seat in an emergency aisle; that or the bulkhead on longer flights.
It is for that reason (me specifically always trying to get the best seats) that I wouldn't change seats when requested.

I am a bigger guy so I choose particular seats for a reason. I would be very reluctant to move. I would move to keep the peace so to speak but I would make sure that I am properly compensated.

Its not illegal, its just frowned upon... Like masturbating on a plane.
BTW... I think this is actually a very reasonable thing for an airline to do... These days and ages there are so many perverts out there... But I also think a child is as likely to be fondled by an adult women as well. But it is good they are doing this to protect children.
plus, who the hell wants to sit beside a kid for 13 hours?

But, but, pedophiles are even more difficult to handle.
Personally, I'd ask to be moved if I sat next to a kid I'm not responsible for.
