#12 Cal escapes with a 75-70 win over Murray State.
Jim Boeheim became the eighth Division I coach to record 800 wins, reaching the mark in his 1,087th game. Boeheim is now eighth all-time in career victories and third amongst active coaches.

Harrison Barnes the most sought after high school recruit has committed to UNC. People compare him to Grant Hill.

Time to get this thread going I guess.
I'll just say this...Kansas will win the National Championship. They are unbelievably deep and have great leadership in Sheron Collins. Xavier Henry is incredibly poised for a freshman and hustles on both ends of the floor. Aldrich is probably the best big man in the country and they have 7 or 8 players that can knock down 3's consistently. I think they will run most teams out of the gym.
This is the best team they've had in a long, long time. Maybe the best since I started following KU basketball in 1986.
My hometown Wichita State Shockers had a nice opening game win today against Fairliegh-Dickinson. All 5 starters in double figures. Missing their only senior due to a 3 game suspension at the hands of the NCAA for failing to certify as an amatuer (school's fault, not his). They may surprise some folks in the Missouri Valley this year, though they are very young.

I agreee with you about KU, Dis. They're going to be tough to beat.
I have a hard time paying attention until a couple weeks before conference tourney time, but I usually get enough info to make an educated guess on who's going to make a mark in the big dance.

College basketball is a whole different bird for me. I actually follow 3 teams, which is something I don't do in any other sport. I think the varying levels of conferences among the massive division 1 pool contributes to that. Additionally, I can watch any college basketball game and be entertained. Not so in the NFL and even the NHL to a certain degree. If I don't have a vested interest or if it's not a marquee game, I'm usually not going to watch.
The game is so far superior to the pro game in my eyes. It's not even close.
Having been to a game in Allen Field House, I can tell you that it is not difficult to get hooked by that atmosphere. When that arena breaks in to the Rock Chalk chant with a few minutes left to go it is electric!
Wichita State does an outstanding job for such a small, urban school. They sell out every game and have been a competitive program for the last decade or so. Fun stuff.

I wouldn't count out another Big 12 team as UT has the deepest/best team they've had probably ever. 3 Senior starters with an unbelievable freshman class. Feb. 8 is already being called the game of the year by the experts. I really think it comes down to these 2 teams. Kentucky and UNC are too inexperienced.

The game was intense. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Glad UK managed to pull off the win. Wall is just awesome. I like our chances this year. Especially after the ineptitude that was the Billy G era. That doesn't necessarily mean a national championship but a good run of it for sure.

We're in the middle of 24 hours of NCAA basketball on ESPN...
Cal State Fullerton knocked off UCLA in 2OT last night
Looks like some good ones today:
Temple/Georgetown
Arkansas/Louisville
Gonzaga/Michigan State
Memphis/Kansas

My team is Clemson Tigers and they are going to be a threat in the ACC this year. I would expect them to return to the NCAA dance for the 3rd time in a row, but this time I would expect them to win at least one game.
In my opinion Trevor Booker could be a darkhorse to win ACC player of the year.
Can't wait till January when the ACC games come to life. Just like SEC for football, I would consider the ACC one of the best basketball conferences.

Georgetown just about received a scare earlier today as they held on to a 46-45 win over Temple.

KU and Memphis locked in a defensive battle. Memphis in big foul trouble and I can't figure out where Sherron Collins is.....

Gonzaga played well vs #2 MSU. Sucked at the free-throw line. Many BC kids(4 to be exact) on the team. Robert Sacre played 20 minutes from me for Handsworth(high school). Great to see him up there in scoring and getting the game time he diserved. 7'0 247 beast.
