Official NFL Standings Prediction Thread
I didn't wanna bog down the TC thread with this since each post will be so massive. It's that time of year again! Haha I love lookin at these four months later, they're always good for a laugh. I swear this is the hardest league to predict year in and year out. I haven't made SB picks yet, I need a bit longer for that.
* = Wild Card
AFC EAST
1. New England
2. NY Jets
3. Miami
4. Buffalo
AFC NORTH
1. Pittsburgh
2. Baltimore*
3. Cincinnati
4. Cleveland
(stared at this one for a long time. I could easily see the Ravens winning the North)
AFC SOUTH(wow thats a tough division)
1. Indianapolis
2. Houston*
3. Tennessee
4. Jacksonville
AFC WEST
1. San Diego(by a mile)
2. Denver
3. Oakland
4. Kansas City
NFC EAST(hardest to predict. Any of the top 3 could take it)
1. Philadelphia
2. Dallas*
3. NY Giants
4. Washington
NFC NORTH
1. Minnesota
2. Chicago
3. Green Bay
4. Detroit
NFC SOUTH
1. New Orleans
2. Carolina*
3. Atlanta
4. Tampa Bay
(Another div where any of the top 3 could take it. I could easily see Carolina takin er, but I'll go with the homer pick)
NFC WEST
1. Seattle
2. Arizona
3. San Francisco
4. St. Louis
(just cant see AZ doing it again. I see Seattle re-claiming top spot, they were too dinged up in 08)

Denver is going to be bad, but after watching the Chiefs and Raiders the past two weeks I think Denver has a better shot at winning the division than they do being in the basement.
Surprises? Dallas doesn't get anywhere near the playoffs. The Jets struggle with Sanchez (no reason to panic). Green Bay runs away with the CONFERENCE.
NFC South is the toughest division to predict, IMO. 4 good teams in that one.

I don't know why so many people are picking Washington to finish so poorly. They have the second-best offense in the NFC East and a much improved defense.

ATL/NO could likely trade positions depending on how much the suspensions of DE's Smith and Grant affect the Saints improving defense.

Based on what?
Last year points scored...
Giants.........427
Eagles........416
Cowboys.....362
Redskins......265
Only the ST Louis Rams scored fewer pts in the NFC last year...hell even the Lions scored more.

I havn't looked at any stats. But offensive rankings are based on yardage. So I'm assuming he is stating that the Redskins had the 2nd most yards in the NFC East.

I don't think so. Washington ranked 19th in the NFL in Yards/Game - behind NYG (7th), Eagles (9th) and Cowboys (13th).

Based on personal opinion. They have a really good, young, fast group of receivers. The offensive line is a bit of a question mark. Even with a suspect line they still have Portis, who is probably the most underrated running back in the NFL. They dealt with quite a few injuries last year and didn't get consistent play from Jason Campbell or their rookie receivers.
Campbell will be better this year and so will the receivers. Everyone outside of Washington and Philadelphia took a step back on offense. The Skins also improved their defense substantially by adding Haynesworth and Orakpo.

Two words: Jason Campbell. That said, I think they are pefectly capable of finishing ahead of Dallas.

Campbell isn't as bad as people make him out to be. He had the best completion percentage of the four NFC QBs, threw the least interceptions, and had more passing yards than Eli. He's easily the most accurate QB in the division. He's also had three difference offensive coordinators over his career. He'll be better now that he's had another summer to get Zaun's offense under his belt.

Part of the reason that he is so "accurate" and doesn't have many interceptions is that he only makes the easy safe passes that don't result in first downs or big plays or scoring plays for his team.
He reminds me of Kevin Glenn in that his stats look, but when you actually watch them play they don't ever make plays to help their team win.
Campbell is too easily confused by the defense and is forced to make the pass that the defense wants him to make. It results in him getting decent looking stats but his team with few points.
