Default Running ATI HD4200 + e-GeForce 6200 PCI ???

Is it possible for me to throw a GeForce 6200 PCI 2.2 card into a system that is using an ATI HD2400 videocard? I need to run 4 monitors.

Will the ATI and Nvidia drivers conflict? That is mainly what I am worried about. Back in the day, I used to run a 9800 Pro AGP and a variety of random PCI videocards so I could have multiple monitors but I don't know if this is wise with current computers.

Try it and see.

But I don't think its going to work. Generally as far as either/or brand go, they're built to "stack" with others of the same card. So get two ATI's or two GeForce's of the same kind.

wow, what a interesting question. I would say no, just because of the drivers.. but I would really like to know if thats possible with someone actually trying. Either way, wanna let me know your final answer to this?

I actually have to go and buy these parts. If I had spare ones lying around, I would certainly try.

I know that in the AGP + PCI days, it certainly worked.

If you need to go buy the part, then wouldn't it make more sense to purchase a card to match the one you already have? Or is this just a "what if?" kind of question?

Ive heard it will work except in Vista. Never tried it though and like others have said, if you're buying, why not get both in ATI. I think they have a 1300 PCI card.

I'd advise against mixing off brand cards. Drivers are bad enough to deal with when you only have one manufacturer involved.

Especially considering you can get a second 2400 for $55: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...17978(ME).aspx

Yeah, I was thinking about something like this too... apparently the way to run more than two monitors is a add a PCI video card for the one's that won't be playing games?

Currently have a 24" Samsung, know I'll eventually be outputting to TV as well... and then I'm thinking of grabbing one of those 22" 3D monitors (which needs two DVIs so...)

Don't have to do it yet, but if there's a good PCI card that would work for this, I should probably grab it before it goes out of stock.

My main card is a nVidia 9800 GTX.

Also heard that nVidia may be figuring out a way to allow multiple monitors with SLI, maybe another 9800 GTX is in order then? I'll have to figure out if I've got enough cables left on my PSU to do that. Or can I do this anyways? Two PCI-E 16x cards, four monitors?

As for you Hack&Loob, I've read that you shouldn't mix brands. Whether or not you COULD though, I have no idea.

Yeah SebC, if you have two PCIe x16 slots, you can run two cards if you can do it without putting them in SLI. I use it on an ATI card motherboard with two different nVidia cards for two TVs and two monitors. Decent PCI cards are expensive and arent' really decent.
There is another option for multiple monitor use. I think it's a KVM switch.

Nah, it's not a KVM, that's for controlling multiple computers using one keyboard and one monitor. I'm thinking of an USB device for multliple monitors.
