Default Man murdered at Cowboys...with toilet tank lid

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/sto...let-death.html

Don't even get me started on how over-hyped and how much of a dump Cowboys already is.

How does the guy walk out of the effing bathroom holding the lid to the water tank without getting stopped by a bouncer? I know it probably happened pretty fast but still.

After reading the link it sounds like it happened in the bar not the bathroom. I'm basing that on the fact that the police say that a lot of people saw it and the article just says in the nightclub not in the bathroom.

Sounds like it may have been in the open. Plus who fights in the bathroom?

Probably pissed off that Greyhound wouldn't sell him a bus ticket.

How much does one of those lids weigh, like 35 lbs or so? Brutal

When police arrived at Cowboy's nightclub in the 1000 block of Olympic Way S.E. on Thursday, they found the victim, who is in his mid-20s, unconscious inside the nightclub.

The bathroom is inside the nightclub. I've seen lots of fights in the bathroom back in the day.

Yeah, wouldn't be surprised if the victim was spotted going to the bathroom and followed by the accused. Guy goes into the stall, grabs the lid and does it in front of every one in the washroom, which was probably full of witnesses.

They even painted the new one to look as dumpy as the old one.

I heard they even kept all of the bars and stuff and just moved it over to keep that dumpy craphole saloon look instead of buying/building new fixtures/bars etc.

Dumpy or not, that place makes money hand over fist, so they must be doing something right

Hope there are witnesses that are "a cistern" the police with their enquiries.

oh there's no doubt about that.

Have you ever noticed that when famous people come to town and are spotted they ALWAYS go to Cowbows? Prince Harry just to name one off the top of my head. When clearly the only good thing about Cowbows is that it has that allure or mystic of being awesome when in reality it is a dumpy place with the most disgusting fake women and old dirty men.

There are clubs in frikin Regina that look like Vegas nightclubs compared to Cowboys.

Is there a Regina I don't know about?

Regardless, Cowboys doesn't purport to be anything more then it is, interior decor wise or otherwise. There are numerous places in town with that "ultra lounge" look/theme/schtick that come and go and that try and justify 8$ drinks, that cater to those who want mood lighting and the ability to be "seen" sitting on a couch that may be more aesthetically pleasing.

I've been advocating the efficiency of toilet tank lids for bludgeoning devices for years now.

I can hardly wait for the '2007 Bludgeon-ies.' Hopefully the bludgeoning academy will finally recognize the toilet tank lid so I can get some 'I told ya so's' in.

Maybe they should start a toilet lid registry.

They said on the news that it happened right in front of one of the bars, and because there were lots of people around the police want any witnesses to come forward.

They have one if you subscribe to "Bludgeoning Quarterly."

I think we already get the point in your past posts that you really don't like Cowboys. Enough. Let's not turn this into an anti-Cowboys thread when this can happen anywhere. No quadrant/area of the city and no nightclub seems to be immune from these incidents. Obviously none have been with toilet lids but I recall Cowboys has strict security and it's tough to bring in weapons. Unfortunately, the suspect found a way of using something within the club.

I haven't been to the new Cowboys or even the old location in years (too old for nightclubs!) but most of the patrons then were college kids like myself at the time and it appeared fairly safe. Not too many preppy, nerdy college kids with futures ahead of them are trying to cause trouble beyond the odd fist fight. Maybe things have changed.

Comparing a cowboy bar to a Las Vegas club doesn't make sense. How many cowboy clubs look like ultra-shek Vegas night clubs? The old location had a barn feel to it which seems country to me.

Also, what's Cowbows?

I challenge your contention by demanding to know where else you have heard of people being bludgeoned to death by toilet tank lid?

Nowhere? Then the 'only at Cowboys' statement has a certain amount of truth to it.

Face it, Cowboys is a fairly unique establishment in both its ambiance and its clientele. There is nothing wrong with pointing that out.

Thats not to say that every Cowboy's patron is a toilet tank-lid wielding maniac, many are maniacs of a very generic and docile variety. But yet, that establishment does manage to attract the crazies by a fairly astonishing percentage.

Dont let that stop you, hell, its half the fun at Cowboys, whats gonna happen tonight?
