Default $2.00/L by...

Spring 2009 imo, just in time for May long.

Just thought it would be interesting to see when everyone thinks we are going to hit this marker. When it does make it there we can come back and see who was the WINNAH, although with gas at $2.00 a litre we will all be losers...

I am talking about in Alberta, I don't care about Ontairo.

Inflation rises, gas to blame

calgary.ctv.ca

"
There’s verification to what you’ve noticed at the cash register: your money is buying less these days. In a report released today, Statistics Canada verified that consumer prices in Canada rose 2.2 per cent last month compared with the same time period last year. Prices rose 1.7 per cent from the month previous.

To blame are significant increases in gasoline prices, says Statistics Canada. The gas price index rose 15 per cent nationally in May compared with the same month last year. Alberta’s price increase was 13.3 per cent. The lowest increase was in British Columbia at 8 per cent, and Ontarians had the highest increase at 17.3 per cent."

By the time it hits $2.00/L we'll all be driving a Toyota Yaris.

Not for quite a while. The recent rise in oil prices have very little to do with market fundamentals. Nothing has really changed since Jan 1 to justify a 50% increase in the price for a barrel. It's been almost purely based on speculation. Add in the fact that China has dropped their gas subsidies causing lower demand. Oil will approach $100 and gas will head south with it.

I just don't see how they can forecast that far with any accuracy when they could barely be accurate day by day.

At $2/litre, there will be a lot of winners in Calgary. Some of us work for oil & gas and have bonuses & stock options that become more valuable as the price of oil goes up.

I have no guess as to when we'll hit $2. It could be next year, it could be five years from now.

There was some talk of it actually going up to $2.00/L by the end of summer.... but no mater what, it will happen in the near future.

This will mean big changes to our lifestyles because the cost of importing things will be so high. Say good-bye to things like grapes and bananas in the winter. Such things will become "exotic" again (which they were for many of our parents and grandparents).

On the bright side, it will force a lot more people to buy locally and support our local economies.

Woohoo. I'm finally feeling a little better by way overpaying for a civic hybrid.

For this last tank i decided i would not speed and drive the speed limit. So far i'm at half a tank(20 litres) and i've gotten 425kms so far!

I'm staying in the slow lane and people are honking and tailgating the crap out of me. hehe

I wonder how the people who bought the H2s a few years ago feel? Hell, anyone who buys a huge 4 wheel drive and never actually go off road with it.

I'm glad I got rid of my pickup a while ago.

I'll be surprised if car companies are still producing many SUV's/Trucks in a few years.

Drive by a dealership that sells trucks, they've got ridiculous deals on them right now.

I was reading an analyst's report yesterday and not everyone things prices are going up, up, up. There are some credible analysts who feel the next big price change will be down, not up. Sorry, no link. It's a service I subscibe to. I wouldn't say for certain that the next 50-cent price change will be up.

I am driving an electric vehicle to go to work and it cost me less. No noise and not polluting the city. I kept my gas car but only use it for long drive. Ever since I driven the electic car three months, I only filled up my gas car twice. I used to fill them up once a week. I didn't notice any spike on my Electric bill.

I'll say the gas prices will keep on rising especially now that summer is in. I wouldn't surprise if the gas price goes to $2/L by Labour Day weekend.

wouldn't be surprised if its sooner then that. Apperantly at 1.60/L the average family (the simpsons are a good example) wont be able to afford to drive anywhere but the grocery store
