To a group that includes Mr. Forzani according to Sportsnet news. The CFL has already approved the deal. Looks like it's just a matter of crossing the t's and dotting the i's.

Found no link yet.

no link there yet...or tsn...or cfl.ca

I heard it as well. I think the 3 of us can confirm that TV said it.

Hopefully this isn't another groundless rumour...but they did say "Sportsnet has learned" and not "Marty York has learned". That has to be a good sign

Michael Petrie was just on Global Sports, saying Ted Hellard, John Forzani, Dave Sapunjis and some oilmen are involved...going over the due dilligence now.

Apparently Ron Rooke and Matt Dunigan's severence was a hot topic during the negotiations, so looks like it might be the end of them...

New Ownership

"Sources believe former Edmonton Eskimos head coach Tom Higgins will be hired as GM-head coach, while longtime president Stan Schwartz -- removed from office in 2003 -- and former Stampeders head coach Jim Barker will also receive roles in the revamped organization. "

Wow, this is a great move!!!!

WOW....this just came out of the blue. And if those names are going to be added to the team then count me in as one happy Stamps fan.

Brings a smile to my face about these severance packages being part of the deal.

Good news, but I don't know about another change in coaching/management. I'd prefer that the new management group fill the holes that currently exist (special teams, and maybe an offensive coordinator to lighten Dunigan's roles), rather than go through a complete changeover again.

Would Dunigan take a demotion (offensive co-ordinator?). Would the Stamps want him to?

I'd hold on to him, if we could. He's in over his head from the start, but so was Rooke...Dunigan had the energy and fire in him, but lack of expereince on running a club on and off the field caught up to him quick....

Interesting stuff, if the sources are correct on this one.
Further things...Jones still the QB under all this?

I'd agree most of the time, but I just think Tom Higgins is one of the best CFL coaches. My old bio-teacher had to room with him in the early 90's for a short time and the guy said he is just the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Also Jim Barker just spells Classy and Schwartz is a big reason for our success before.

THIS IS GREAT IF IT HAPPENS!!

BRING BACK BARKER!!!

I hated that firing.

Ohhhhhh this is key!

Local ownership is what this team needs.

Higgins though? ohhhhh man, we dont need an Eskimo here

The Link above states Jim Barker will be hired. I am betting Jim is the new Offensive Coordinator!!!

Sweet! I don't think Dunnigan should be let go in general. Maybe he can stick around as a QB coach?

remember Barkers days back as an Argo..man this guy nows how to run an offense. Especially with a guy good like Kohari, those two will work great together!!

Barker as OC would be awesome
Dunigan at QB Coach too would be good (let him learn the ropes..he deserves it imo)
Current QB Coach Craig Dickenson is rumoured to be the new ST Coach since Junkin's now gone, so that could leave room for Dunigan
Creehan staying around as DC is also wicked.

Stan Schwartz as Pres = excellent

Higgins as GM/HC is good as well - playoffs 3 years in a row, 2 grey cup appearences and 1 win is aok in my books. Former Eskimo or not, he was a Stampeder first. Consider it a homecoming

Say NO to Higgins being a head coach. He makes too many stupid decisions. I would be ok with him being the GM though.

Fair enough. He is a gambler though...which, when it doesn't work makes him look stupid. When it does, he looks like a freakin' genius. I dunno, you may be right. He would be an immediate improvement over Dunigan however.
