My friend has a chocolate phone and the battery life is terrible. I recently traded in my razr for a cheap samsung and love it.

The slider chocolate is crap, at least with Telus. So is the Razr. Samsung has taken over the cell phone market, IMO. I assume the same thing can be said with Bell phones as it's the manufacturer and not the network in question.

I work in an electronics department part time and I can confirm that the LG Chocolate is the most returned and sent to repair phone we sell. There's not just one particular problem, but many. I've seen the screen stop functioning, the MP3 player keys no longer working, and the phone not being able to power off.

With a rare exception or two, you cant go wrong with a Nokia or Sony Ericsson. I went Moto and LG and I came crawling back to a SE phone. I used to work at The Source and Motos were the most returned. Planning on getting that new Nokia N95 w/ 8GB that just hit the web. mmm.

I'm relaly happy with my Samsung m610, as I said in the last cell phone thread. One of the big factors for me was the size of the phone, and it's one of the thinnest ones out there right now. The camera works great, 2 MP pictures come out looking really nice. The ringer/vibrate are both a little soft, but other than that I have no complaints about it. If you want a more MP3-friendly phone, the SE ones are worth looking at, but consider this one if you're thinking about a Samsung.

Please buy Nokia and support Kippers home land so we can send your superior land more goalkeepers. If you want South Korean keepers, then buy Samsung. Which one its going to be ? Please help us, we rely solely on Nokia and Kipper in our exports.

Put me down as having no problems with my Samsung. (Thanks again Firefly for recommending it.)
The only problems I've experienced have been Telus related; nothing to do with the phone.

Just ordered a SE m600i, a guy in the office has one and it is very nice. He has the blackberry service hooked up to it too.
No camera though.

I'm a big fan of Nokia and Soney Ericsson. I used to hate SE because their earlier phones were so bad for text messaging due to their unresponsiveness. My first SE phone was just awful. However, my last two SE phones seemed to have straightened out my issue, and the software seems to have really improved in that regards. And Nokia I've owned 3 of those and have had no problems with any of them. Currently, I'm running the SE K550i, and I think it's a pretty solid phone.

I'm with Fido and I get mine from Ebay. You just have to make sure you get the phone unlocked. And having Quad band helps (or so this one girl at the phone store tells me). I'm not gonna pretend I know a lot about phones, but it seems like anything Tri Band and lower gets crappy reception for me.

Nice choice. I have been using the p1i and the keyboard is awesome. Anyways, quadband is nice in calgary, but i find you will get by fine with a tri band phone.

I would suggest a Nokia E70. I have used a friend's quite a few times, and it's a great phone. I've heard nothing but good things. Plus, Maddox backs it.(NSFW .. ish)

Yeah a guy in the office has a m600i and has no problems with it, so I thought I'd give it a try.
Got it fairly inexpensive from eBay from HK, so if I don't like it I can easily sell it for what I paid for it.
Heh wish I could afford a P1i.

I have a Nokia N80... great phone, 3 megapixel Camera and I've had absolutely no problems with it
HK Phone, It is either tri or quad band.
@The Yen Man: Quad band and Tri Band shouldn't effect the quality of phone call. What they are is which frequency the phone'd work on... Tri Band phones will work on 3 frequencies and Quad Band phones will work on 4

Hmmmmm this thread seems to have drifted away from its original question. Is the 150$ credit on top of the 3 year contract price of the phone? or just 150 dollars off the no contract price?
