Default Ozempic? Who is in it

Just got prescribed it for my recently diagnosed type 2 diabetes. Going to start it Saturday. Anyone taking it and what side effects have you had if any?

Are you insinuating that there are dead celebrities in it? I suppose it’s possible.

For a lot of people, the first line of defense for diabetes is Metformin with a strong dose of diet and exercise. It's a world class drug, cheap and has an excellent safety profile since it's been around 50+ years. Depending on A1C levels, I would think you should hit target with it fairly soon with either medication. Good luck as it's a condition that should be treated very carefully due to long term affects of NOT looking after it.

If you want to know any drugs side effects, just watch American TV and you will learn all about it! JK. Constipation, stomach issues, vomiting and in rare cases, thyroid issues I believe.

Doctor suggested it for me, have early onstage heart disease and was carrying a few pounds more than was good for my health, he really likes Ozempic and Wegovy, I'm assuming he's getting flown to Epstein's Island for 'lectures' on it's efficacy or the like

That said lost 30 pounds since May, down to 215 from 245lbs, what I like about it, the injector is neat as hell!! it doesn't make you lose weight but it takes your appetite away so it is easier to not eat crap, not eat after a 2 hour bike ride etc

What I didnt like, wierd rock hard slightly painful and difficult to pass bowel movements

I take metamucil, a polyethylene glycol gummy, and drink lots of water and it helps with this side effect. I have had roughly similar experiences to you though and it helps just decrease the food noise particularly at night.

My Dad is on it and he's had a lot of success with it. The one side effect he's had is that his sodium levels really bottomed out. To the point that he had a seizure out of nowhere and that's what they think caused it. Now he gets his labs done every 3 months to monitor his sodium levels and eats as much salty food as he likes!

My doctor keeps asking me if I want to take it. A bit of a story....

I was asked if I wanted to do a clinical trial for this new diabetes drug that they have found helps with weight loss (back before Ozempic was a household name). I had been slowly putting weight on and got up to 298lbs (6'4" and was always 230-250) before starting to try be better. I was at about 285 at this point. (I had symptoms and my wife kept saying she thought I had type 2).

I agree, it's going to pay $750.00 for a few injections and some blood work. Worst case I get the placebo and get paid for my time.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and I have my daughter at the doctor to get a referral as she injured her foot. He asks if he can see me after. Turns out my bloodwork shows that I am "very diabetic".

So I am immediately prescribed Metformin. Like with Ozempic I lost a ton of weight as I completely changed my diet as well. So as the one poster above noted, Metformin is usually the first diabetes medication prescribed and it works as I have had my A1C under control for years now, but the weight loss stopped. I am much more active, eat better, drink less and I can't get below 250, usually hovering around 260. I look better and feel way better, but how would I feel if I was 230lbs? 215?

Metformin did a number on my digestive system and it took a long time to get back to normal. My doctor says he would just add Ozempic to my treatment and keep the Metformin too.

I would have done it already but my body's acclamation to Metformin was difficult (multiple times have had very close calls and went scrambling into an unsuspecting Tim Horton's and just welll....) I am afraid that would just start up again.

TLDR: diabetic, curious about adding it for weight loss, concerned about side effects.
