Were the coaches on round one of this? Good to have them in the poll. After Lanny, Sutter is the next vote for me I think.

Fleury or McDonald. These two are locks imo. Not having Fleury there would be utterly ridiculous just because he has alternative views on things politically. He is still possibly the most talented player to play for this franchise and there is a reason no player has ever chosen #14. The Mt Rushmore should be the players that most impacted the team, results on ice, and being an icon related to the team.

I don’t know how far you want to take this, but any thought of a separate Mt Rushmore for off ice people connected with Flames? You have 7 legit candidates in the poll and maybe even missing someone like Hotchkiss. Plus what about the good guy businessman who was responsible for getting the Flames to Calgary in the first place? His crooked smile deserves a spot on Rushmore, no ?

Lol. Fleury has “alternative views”. That’s definitely a way of describing it.
And in a technical sense Attila the Hun had an active, outdoor lifestyle. Doesn’t really tell the whole story now does it?

Neither side is right in this one.

If a person wants to make an on ice thing only they have every right to ignore off ice stuff. It's their filter, use it as you wish.

Just don't tell everyone else that they have to ignore his off ice chaos.

Fleury could be like the Thomas Jefferson of Mount Rushmore. Someone who's in the sculpture you wish you could replace or erase.

talent is I suppose hard to define. Theo definitely was talented, and worth the price of admission many nights. but even that would be an interesting list- Makarov, Nilsson, Gaudreau etc

Can’t be Kipper since you can’t have the first two players on it from a team who made one cup final as their achievement and not have anyone from a team that dominated for years, got to 2 cups and won one. And of that era it I think has to be Lanny although I think MacInnis is deserving too.

Top three for me are Iggy, Kipper, Lanny.
Also, have to believe Kipper would absolutely loathe the idea of being on a Mount Rushmore of any sort.

Fleury isn't a lock, either factoring the off ice stuff or not. Iggy, Kipper, Lanny for sure in my mind. After that, MacInnis, Gio, Fleury, Loob, Niewy and maybe Vernon and Backlund should be in consideration.
Tough call for the last spot, but I think I go MacInnis. He was a game changer.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Exactly what did Kipper accomplish on ice that would put him ahead of Fleury?
