Hope Monahan can find success post-hip surgery just like Nichushkin did.

Did he get waived at one point in his career?

I like the salary but I'm not sure if he's proven enough to warrant 8 years. I suppose it's all about winning while their window is open.

I guess if you're betting on one of your players to repeat their career year, it makes sense to choose Nichushkin over Kadri, based on their ages. But man, that's still a heck of a commitment.

Honestly feel happy for Nichushkin. Was a dark horse in his draft year but was talked about as one of the more skilled players in his draft class. Didn't work out right away so he left for the KHL, presumed to have his NHL career over.
Instead he busts his ass off there and has a great season and playoffs with the Avs and gets his cup, and now a huge deal.

He's still young and will be a force if he can put it together consistently. He obviously has a great agent though and should be thanking him for this deal. Overpayment for sure, but that's what a cup win gets you.

At minimum he should be a steal for the first half of that deal. He was a force in the playoffs.

Good for him. He was money this year and was a beast in the cup finals. Nice to see players turn their career’s around in the right setting

Using this as the high end comparable, would a 8x$5.5 work for Mangiapane? Would you even sign him to that?
