I think this one is going to look amazing in a few years. Kind of a throwback deal with all of these shorter term RFA deals.

Wow that's a huge contract for 1 good season. His rookie year was ok and his soft more year was really good.
This might be as much of a PR move as a hockey move. Give those poor fans something to distract from Eugene.

Nah, this is a good deal for the Sens. This is going to look like a steal for them, Chabot is the real deal.

This is a great day for the Sens... they badly needed some news like this and Chabot is for real.

Don’t like it - I was looking forward to his offer sheet(s) next summer.
 Good deal for the Sens.

Yep, this is the type of contract that should look like insanely good value in about 3 years.

Anyone saying this is bad for Ottawa is out to lunch.
Going to look like an insane deal in a few years time. Chabot is already a complete stud and very good chance that AAV would've been an extra digit had Ottawa waited till next offseason.

I personally know 100% I'd take Chabot over Marner without thinking twice and Marner got basically $3M more a season for 2 less years.

So he would have gotten $80,000,000 per season LOL?

He's the next Karlsson. This will be a bargain. Good gamble for the Sens to take.

An extra digit... not an extra digit in front or behind the 8.

Didn't think it would be that hard to understand 🤔

But $80,000,000 total minimum would've been very likely on an 8-year deal if Ottawa waited till next offseason to negotiate.

It's still pretty early to say, definitively, that he is the real deal. He likely is, but with defensemen it is a little more complicated.
Nonetheless, this is exactly the kind of contract that Ottawa should be issuing, because they are going to be scraping the cap floor for the next few years, and by the time they have cap constraints, $8M will be a much more manageable number.
