Rangers 5 - Lightning 4

Rangers were extremely concerned going into this game. GM Flambers was quoted saying "Lightning are a dangerous team, they have had a tough start to the season and they are due for a big win". With the Rangers #1 goalie out now for the second game, the Rangers Coach decided to double shift the star players. Todays game the Rangers took some undiscplined penalities with Mike York getting a 5 minute major.

Game Stars

1 - Rob Blake (RAN)
2 - Curtis Brown (LIG)
3 - Daniel Alfredsson (RAN)

Shortly after the game GM Flambers gave two tickets to Johnnson and Alfreddson and said they were traded to the Penguins. Rumours still persist GM Flambers is looking for a 2nd line left winger.

Next game vs Quebec

Despite out shooting the Avs 41 – 22, Oil dropped a 6 – 4 decision

Today the Oil fell apart in the third period, allowing four unanswered goals on only six shots. And drop to 3 – 3 on the season. Today was a disappointing loss, to carry the play all game including out shooting the Avs 21 – 7 in the first period alone and walking away with a loss.

Brodeur who is off to a less than spectacular start has been very inconsistent in this young season, showing the brilliance of the top goalie in the league in one game and looking like an awkward rookie in others. The Oil have kept the opposition to 23 shots average in the past three games, and when we do that we feel we have a good chance to win a game. It is a good possibility Caron may see his first start of the season in Chicago tomorrow night.

Gary Roberts has been placed on the IR due to his groin injury. He is not expected to make the flight to Chicago, and will meet up with the team Wednesday when they return home for a battle against the Sharks. Scottie Upshall has been recalled from the Roadrunners for tomorrows game which can be seen on the Oil suck network 7:00 pm.

The top line of Roberts Vinny and Hossa all contributed tonight with multi point games and will be reunited when Roberts returns to duty. Samsonov and Doan extend their point streaks to three games

The Oil face a new look hawk team in a must win game to stay above the dreaded .500 mark.

Oil vs. Hawks ………… Buy a ticket

JETS QUACK ON DUCKS!

Jets Record:
3-2-1-0=7 pts—8th in the conference.

Jet Goals:

LOMBARDI 2 (YZERMAN, BOUCHER)
ROENICK 1 (MIRONOV, PARRISH)
SALEI 1 (PARRISH, BOUCHER)
VANDERMEER 1 (ROENICK, YOUNG) (PP)

Positives:

We got contributions from the big gunners today. Roenick and Parrish both with a multi point game. Solid discipline, the Ducks had just 2 power plays tonight.

Negatives:

Giving up a lead with just 1:16 left in the third allowed a division foe to get one point from the game. The power play did come through with the GWG but we went just one for 10 on the pp.

Player of the Game:

Rookie defense man Jim Vandermeer an unlikely power play man got his chance and fired a rocket between Luongo’s legs just 44 seconds in OT.

Up Next:

Tomorrow vs. the Thrashers. GM Walsh voiced his displeasure with the schedule this season. The Jets will face the powerful Thrashers 7 times this season, despite being in opposite conferences, and will play 3 games in a row vs. the Thrashers.

Sharks 1- Kings 1

In an ugly game that was "highlighted" by cheap shots, fights, and the beginning of what looks like some serious dislike for each other, suberb goaltending and penalty killing was the real story.

Kings penalty killing was flawless, killing all 9 Sharks powerplays, while the Sharks were equally impressive allowing just 1 goal in 13 powerplays. Stellar goaltending was the reason this game stayed close and the two keepers were the first two stars.

The ugliness started when Marchment took exception to Phaneuf falling into his knee. Said Marchment, "I was just giving him a hipcheck when he darted around me...I accidentally stuck a knee out and hit him flush in the knees. He got up slowly and I yelled at him to be careful that he could have hurt me....Next thing I know he has his mouth going ...so I closed it for him, repeatedly."

The first period also saw Steen viciously run the Sharks goal keeper and despite loud complaints he received only a minor penalty. From that point on things only got worse as both sides worked hard to outdo the other with their cheapshots... Grigorenko and Drake were both given majors for spearing in separate attacks.

The second period saw more of the same with both teams exchanging vicious hits that were often over enthusiastic and as a result called penalties...Boarding, cross-checking, roghing, unsportsmenlike conduct...all signs of flaring tempers and increased dislike.

However, the worst (best) was yet to come...The 3rd period was a more difficult for the timekeeper than a sobriety test for the Kings GM...The parade never seemed to stop! The highlite was the much smaller Grigorenko holding his own against the MUCH bigger Phaneuf. Apparently, Phaneuf was angry because the Russian thought, with a name like that, he was from Newfoundland...

After the game Sharks GM Taejonguy had this to say-"Those B@stards! They came out spearfishing Sharks and then got mad when we slapped their Queenie @sses around the ice! If they want to play goon hockey then bring it on! Our players have no desire to stoop to their level but if they have to....Merde!"

After calming down he went on-"Sorry about that! They just tick me off! The coach yells something the other day at at a conference by their GM and look what he does...I am done here...before I get fined or something. You can bet game 239 is circled on our calendar!"

There are now 2 games circled on the Penguins calendar and GM Goffie has guarenteed victory. GM Goffie was gonna be sympathatic towards the ECHL ...opps I mean CPHL Sharks. The Pens felt bad that the CPHL made the sharks change thir jersey's from a picture of a Great White Shark to a picture of a nurse shark and were gonna show mercy. But not anymore!!

The Penguins and the local Kotobuki Japanese Restaurant are now offering a promotion. When the Pens beat the Sharks and score 5 or more goals you can pass in your ticket stub and recieve free Shark Sushi...

1193 SHARKS at PENGUINS
135 PENGUINS at SHARKS

It promises to be be an eventful game, nobody realized that a Penguin can be more vicious then a shark...there will be blood in the water, fans won't want to miss this.

In related news the star of Jaws Roy Schneider will drop the puck to open the Pens home game, cause in his words, "I know what to do when a shark *#$*^ around. "
