I think this is to replace Bennett who is day-to-day, and also doesn't leave us with 11 forwards again.
Should never have been sent down again, but hindsight is 20/20.

Lazar has played 245 NHL games, 69 with the Flames, you should know what to expect.

Given Monahan & Bennett are at least skating today, I wouldn't count them out to play tomorrow just yet but good to have him up here so they don't need to go 11/7 again

If either of Monahan or Bennett is doubtful for Tuesday this would be an emergency recall and wouldn't count against the recall max.

Lazar has 15 goals in 245 NHL games. I think that you need to check your expectations. Lazar is at best a 4th line energy player. A quality character sure, but not a high skill player.

Would he count as another recall otherwise? He was already the first recall after the trade deadline.

Yup. However, in that case, Lazar could only play if both are out - as was the case against Winnipeg - since we would otherwise have 12 available forwards on the roster.
If either dresses tomorrow, Lazar will be sent back before the game.

Emergency recalls don't count against the four recall limit. There's just a pile of rules around when such a recall becomes available, when they can play, and how they can be brought up.
