Jankowski/Gilmour signing watch. (Friedman: "Arm-wrestling" over bonuses)
PC was eliminated in double OT of the Northeast region semi-finals.
Jankowski and Gilmour's college careers have come to an end.
Jankowski was injured in the game, will have to see if that will affect him potentially playing any NHL games before the 2015/2016 season is over.
Flames have until August 15 to sign them both.

Would there be any reason for the Flames to wait to sign Janko because of the injury? Or should they just sign him as soon as possible in hopes that he heals up in time for some games?

Gaudreau was signed the next day after he was awarded the Hobey Baker. There was also a rush to get him to Vancouver for the final game of the season.
There are still 8 Flames games left in the season, so maybe not as huge a rush to get Jankowski.

The injury is irrelevant with respect to signing him. Just get it done. If he can't play any games, so be it.

It might be to Jankowski's benefit not to burn a year off his contract and instead get a full year's salary for next year. He's not a guaranteed NHLer.

They were eliminated from the Frozen Four on Thursday. He won the Hobey Baker on Friday. He signed with the Flames shortly before the Hobey Baker ceremony. He and Arnold were on the plane to Vancouver Friday night to play on Sunday.
Because the Flames still have 8 games left in the season, there isn't the same sense of urgency to get Jankowski and/or Gilmour signed.
They'll probably give them the weekend to wind down from the College season and they likely won't sign until Monday.

Neither was Hanowski, Agostino or Arnold. They got the games in before the season ended. You saying Janko is less deserving than those 3?

That's not what I said at all.
If Jankowski's burns a year off his contract this season, that's 1 less year on his contract, but he doesn't make a full year's salary.
What if, once his contract is up, nobody offers him a contract? If he doesn't burn a year now, he has an extra year of security.
Just thinking from Jankowski's perspective.

If we sign both, we have to send Hamilton and Wotherspoon down?

Interesting to see that the Flames have guys on hand to get this done. I was worried that Murray Edwards jet might be at home, in England.

I believe so. Although, if Engelland is activated for tomorrow's game, Wotherspoon would have to go down anyway.
They could convert Hamilton (and/or Wotherspoon) to a regular call-up and keep him up.

I would like to see Janko in some flames games, but at the same there are guys in the Ahl that deserve a showing. It might be a little unfair to guys like Arnold, Grant, etc.
