Default Johnny Gaudreau: King of 3-on-3 OT

Shocked to see it was Lambert that wrote this glowing piece on Gaudreau's OT heroics. Pretty amazing that we have such a talented player.

Quote:
Gaudreau basically drags the Flames kicking ands screaming to some of the best differentials in the league, with the only difference really being that when he's on the ice, other teams get more going offensively as well, except where goals are concerned. He creates an absurd amount of offense that the Flames, without him, cannot really hope to replicate, and that's reflected in the fact that he has scored 3-4-7 on his team's eight OT goals this season. He even picked up an assist on one of the two for which he was off the ice.

Let's put it as simply as possible. Gaudreau has personally taken eight of the Flames' 30 high-quality chances (40 percent), 11 of their 31 scoring chances overall (35 percent), and 14 of their 36 shots attempts (40 percent). By himself. Which, I think, goes a long way toward explaining why he's gotten in on seven of their eight goals (87.5 percent).
Quote:
All blessings to that little fellow. He is perfect. And by the way, he's in a contract year. When you're personally worth this many points in a given season, the team really ought to just get a blank check. In OT alone, Gaudreau has gotten them almost 16 percent of their point total for the season, to say nothing of his 17-23-40 in 48 in regulation. And again, OT success seems like a quality he's capable of repeating over and over again in the long-term.

You'd hope, for their sake, that Brad Treliving has a crew of his teammates working around the clock to load money into a dump truck already.

Totally. I love wading through mega-threads for new stuff. It's the best.

Yeah I think he was the one complaining that the old thread was a bad place for this. Or someone was.

CP, come for Flames news but stay for grammar police (me so guilty) and message board process and ethics debates.

It is still comes across as a pretty blatant back-handed compliment to the Flames. The gist of Lambert's article is that Gaudreau is amazing, and the Flames are a steaming pile of burning dog poo that is lucky to have him on their roster.

Has anyone seen a picture of Lambert and Polak together? I bet not.

I did not go into mega-thread, so did not get this inside(megathread)-joke.

Nah I completely disagree with Lambert.

Gaudreau AND Brodie are amazing. The rest of the Flames are a steaming pile of crap

(Monahan, Bennett and Gio too. Calm down)

One thing that Lambert's story overlooks is the good coaching that Hartley has had in OT.

Starting with a more defensive grouping to help win possession of the puck, and then getting Gaudreau out there for the offensive chances.

It's really why there is such a big disparity between Gaudreau's scoring chances for and against in comparison to the rest of the team.

He plays all of his OT minutes in the defensive zone, and then gets him off the ice when the other team has the puck.

Are you new to CP? Gaudreau doesn't start OT on the ice because Hartley is submarining Gaudreau's career, and should be fired before irreparable damage is done to Gaudreau's development and NHL career.
