If you're not planning on doing it already, you should include an "other" option on the poll.
It probably won't be needed for a while, but for some of the later picks there might be players who got left off the poll that deserve some votes.

So a guy like Tarasenko doesn't get consideration because he has not been nominated for an award?
Seems like a weird way to get nominees.

I don't think Seguin has been a finalist for any awards either, and he might be in my top 5. Definitely top 10.

Ovechkin for me here. His goal scoring ability is second to none and he's brought his two way game back up to an acceptable level.

It takes a while to input 50 polling options.

This is not a perfect metric - some players clearly merit consideration and they aren't on this list. Seguin, Hossa, Tarasenko, etc. I needed some sort of uniform standard to get in, and I would argue that players nominated for major awards represents a pretty good cross section of who should be considered in the elite of the elite.

Omissions and snubs happen regardless - at least this is fair in the context of the experiment.

Just add an option like "Other - Specify in Comments". Because Seguin needs to be on here.

Voted Price, myself - Montreal is not an especially well-built team, and they have 1 great D and a bunch of middle of the road support players. No true #1C, a decent power winger, and they're contenders every year because Price is the best goalie on the planet.

I'm sure that can be arranged. I'd be curious to see where the write-in campaign for guys like Seguin, Tarasenko, Hossa begins.

Regardless, Seguin is not the 2nd best player in the NHL. So once again, my mistake will be short lived.

Some notable players not in the poll that probably deserve some consideration somewhere in the top 50 are Seguin, Johansen, Voracek, Hudler, Backstrom, Pavelski...
 I'm sure there are more.

I'm conflicted on Seguin. I think he's elite offensive player but his defense is pretty bad. If you're ranking him as a winger, he might be as good as Ovechkin or Tarasenko. If you're ranking him as a center though, which he played last year, I've got him way further down the list under Kopitar, Bergeron, Datsyuk, Tavares, Toews.

Not enough Evgeni Malkin love in the voting. Legit case to be made he's as good or better than Sid.

To me this is easily Carey Price. Can't believe the love for Toews here. Good leader and all but his lack of high end production keeps him from getting the nod here.

Kopitar is better than Toews but has zero votes?
 The Canadian bias is strong.
