I blame Bob Cole and his geriatric game calling. He should've retired 5 years ago.

Capitals played the perfect road game tonight. That team could be a contender in the east as Trotz has them playing efficient two way hockey. Flames just didn't have their legs tonight and made some bad giveaways. Games like this are going to happen with this team as the high end talent isn't there to make big momentum swings. If Hiller wins his next start I think it's time to roll with him until back to back games or a poor performance. The team looks like they play a little better in front of him. Ramo wasn't bad tonight but he let in a couple of goals that a goaltender on top of his game saves. Hiller's been clearly better of late and if this team really is serious about getting wins and not caring about the draft they would ride the hot goaltender.

Frustrating game. The Flames cycled the puck well but never got good shots off. Some people made comments about this in the GT thread but the Caps are kind of a carbon copy of Nashville with Trotz as coach

That last play from Raymond towards the end with the forced pass was kinda brutal.

The Flames were in it and stayed competitive the whole game but the Caps were the better team.

Damn you Barry Trotz.
Flames couldn't get much going tonight. Looked just like the games against Nashville that we've gotten accustomed to seeing.

They really need to play a more simple game at home. Get pucks on net from all angles and skate hard. Too many fancy pass attempts that ended up going the other way down the ice.

I felt that they at least made Washington work for it. I am not claiming a moral victory like the Oilers would, but it wasn't a terrible game IMO. They worked hard and really showed their speed.

Also, Joel Ward would look good as a Flame.

Bad effort from the Flames. They tried to be too cute offensively and they didn't shoot the puck enough. That and a couple of defensive breakdowns cost them the game. Full marks to the Caps for playing a solid road game. Oh well, learn from this and move on.

This team needs more greedy players who will actually shoot the puck when there's a lane to the net.

Flames seems out of sync with their passing from the 2nd period. They were trying to be cute and make some fancy passes. I refused to blame a single player for this lost because the whole team was just skating and not connecting on their passes. When the Caps went ahead, Washington just turned into a Nashville Predators hockey game preventing the Flames to set up. We lost to a better team tonight.

Brad and Brian promised big and tough players yet re-signed Byron, Russell, and Stajan. All good players and good people but contradict the rhetoric that they like to use at press conferences.

IMO, you can't have Hudler, Gaudreau, Byron, Raymond, and Backlund all in your top 9. None of them are overly big and strong and can get pushed off the puck easily.
