5-year-old, grandparents disappear from Calgary home

CALGARY- Police are appealing for help from the public, after a five-year-old boy and his grandparents vanished.

Around 10 a.m. on Monday, police were called by the boy’s mother from a home in the 100 block of 38A Avenue S.W. where the grandparents live. She had shown up to pick up her son, but no one was home.

Police say evidence found in the Parkhill home suggests their disappearance may be suspicious.

“When we went to the address and after speaking with family members, the home was not in the condition it typically would have been left in,” said Kevin Brookwell from the Calgary Police Service.

At first, the part about the house not being in normal condition sounded to me like the grandparents grabbed stuff and took off (kidnapping the kid), but on the 6:00 news, they interviewed a cop, and he said it looked like they left under duress.

Friend of a friend of the parents say that the grandparents are not suspects.

Yeah, they said on the news that the grandparents aren't suspects. They haven't been seen (I hope I have this right) since 10pm last night when the boy's mom dropped him off. She went back this morning at 10am.

I have a hunch the grandparents may be suspects but the cops are saying otherwise to the media so the grandparents guard will be down.
