Default Google to acquire Twitch.tv for more than $1 billion?

And it looks like Google wants in on the action too—according to a report from Variety, the company is going to buy video game streaming site Twitch.tv for over $1 billion.

Hopefully they won't make twitch as complicated to navigate through as google+ is. Please leave it as it is.

What is so big about Twitch? I get the whole being able to stream your online gameplaying, but why do people want to watch it? What is the appeal?

There are people who question why anyone would want to watch someone play hockey. It's exciting to see people do stuff really well, even video games. And some of the streamers are interesting personalities who are fun to listen to as well.

Google+ is hard to navigate? Completely disagree, its the dead simple to navigate.

Great acquisition by Google hopefully they bring some needed changes to the Twitch UI.

Heard some rumors that the sale was falling through. Looks like it is/was - Amazon is going to close it?

From what I can tell, some of the bigger games on Twitch are F2P where content is timewalled/paywalled. A LoL noob doesn't have access to all the heroes, but they can watch them on Twitch. A Hearthstone noob can't do arenas all day without spending money every time he does, but he can watch games on Twitch.

It's more of a skill thing, people want to see the top players play, and all the e-sport events are shown on twitch.
