Default Data recovery for hard drive

I need some help in data recovery.

My hard drive which stores all my iTunes songs (about 300 Gb of them) crapped out, and when I try to boot the drive up it shows it is in RAW format. I did a bunch of research online and tried some of the techniques, it didn't work out. It has something like a "Partition Read Error." I believe the header was corrupted. Granted I haven't spent too much time on it.

Anyways, I am trying to see if anyone here does data recovery (or know people who do) for cheap. The main point is CHEAP. I am not prepared to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars trying to recover the songs as they are not "life-and-death," but still I do prefer to get those songs back if they are not too expensive.

If there are other DIY tricks I am willing to try it out myself too.

Thanks in advance.

Try test disk. Make sure you have a sector by sector come off the drive first.

If that is beyond you then I do this kind of thing in the side and would gladly take a look for you. CP pricing.

Send me a pn

I've recently had a similar issue. Getting a BSOD on boot up. A little troubleshooting and research is pointing toward a pooched hard drive. I'm lacking the time and inclination to fix it myself. Looking for recommendations for a reputable and reasonably priced computer repair service in Calgary.

Bumping an old thread. Dropped my old laptop, hard drive recovery was attempted, but it just spun and spun with a weird sound emitted.

Am I boned? Limited to $4 figure physical dust-less data recovery?

SpinRite?

Thanks,

^He just did my mom's drive. 100% recovery after a physical head failure. Not bad. Not bad.

I'm interested in using iTunes Match:

https://www.apple.com/ca/itunes/itunes-match/

With iTunes Match, all your music can be stored in iCloud — even songs you’ve imported from CDs. You can access your music from all your devices and listen to your entire library wherever you are. Subscribe to iTunes Match on your Mac, PC or iOS device.

$28.00 per year.

iTunes determines which songs in your collection are available in the iTunes Store. Any music with a match is automatically added to iCloud for you to listen to anytime, on any device. Since there are more than 43 million songs in the iTunes Store, chances are your music is already in iCloud.3 And for the few songs that aren’t, iTunes uploads what it can’t match (which is much faster than uploading your entire music library). Even better, all the music iTunes matches plays back from iCloud at 256-Kbps AAC DRM-free quality — even if your original copy was of lower quality.

For $28 a year it's really a good deal IMO. I've been using it for about 2 years now.
