				 School won't say sorry.

		| Next to each photo is a short caption about each student's memories of school and his or her goals for the future - some serious, some evidently jokes, likely inserted by the yearbook's authors. Next to the photo of Robin Tomlin, a shy, skinny teen and a victim of intense bullying, is just one word: "Fag."The entry might have seemed funny to those who wrote it, but to Tomlin it was devastating, a culmination of the torment he had been subjected to for years in the school's hallways. Four decades later, the word still stings.
"I feel like, emotionally, they've been beating me with a stick for 42 years," he said.

Crazy the school would not agree to the request.

That's awful, maybe the high school yearbook committee from that year should come forward and apologize.

If this happened last week I would feel bad but 1970? Get over it dude. If there's a statute of limitations on crimes then surely their has to be for apologies over mean yearbook comments.

I completely agree with you, but on the other hand it would be really easy for the principal to write a letter of apology. Apologies can mean a lot and they're not very difficult to do...

I don't think it is the principal's place to write that letter (unless in the highly unlikely event it is the same principal from 1970). Let the school board or the people responsible for the yearbook make that apology.

+1, but it would not be the same principle?

I think an apology is appropriate. I don't think $5000 for expenses is justifiable. It would set a precedent for anyone else who has been bullied 40/30/20 years ago. That money is better spent on making sure current student needs are met.

Sure its easy to do. However how does an apology from someone who had nothing to do with a situation that happened 40 years ago mean anything?

I think what this guy needs instead of an apology, is a therapist. Yeah, it's sad that he's terminally ill but c'mon - is an apology from people who had nothing to do with the yearbook really going to help him out?

It costs nothing and is it going to hurt?
