Default Olympic GDT - 3 August

Some Canadian athletes in action today
(UK time)

For a list of every Canadian in every event, check: http://olympic.ca/canadian-schedule

10:00 Men’s Shot Put, Olympic Stadium
Athletics get underway in the Olympic Stadium when men’s shot put begins! The preliminary round starts at 10:00 and the final is at 20:30. Canada’s Dylan Armstrong missed a medal in Beijing by just one centimetre!

10:24 Men’s 1500m Freestyle Swimming Heats, Aquatic Centre
Watch Ryan Cochrane, the bronze medalist in Beijing in 2008, as he competes for a place in tomorrow’s final. Ryan has twice won silver medals in the World Championships and is a good contender for a medal.

14:00 Men’s individual trampoline, qualifications, North Greenwich Arena
Competition gets underway today, and Jason Burnett of Etobicoke, Ontario – our silver medallist from Beijing – will represent Canada. The final begins at 15:26.

19:30 Women’s 200m backstroke, Final, Aquatic Centre
Sinead Russell of Oshawa, Ontario is in the finals at the Aquatics Centre after an eighth-place semi-final ranking.

What else is going on today?
Other Olympic events today include the women’s heptathlon; the men’s team pursuit cycling final; and the women’s basketball.

Biggest ones for me will be Canada-GBR soccer semifinal (7:30 UK time) and CAN-BRA basketball round robin (2:30 UK). Tennis is into the semis as well.

Armstrong's first of three attempts was 19.99. He needs to hit 20.65 to or to be in top 12 to qualify.

Update: He faulted his second attempt.

3rd attempt: 20.49. He needs to remain in top 12 to move on. He's sixth right now.

Update: Good news: He's off to the final tonight. He finishes 7th in the qualifying session.

Well Canada got destroyed in Mens Double Row.

The Kiwis crushed the rest of the teams. Absolutely crushed them.

This is some tennis match eh eh?
Could be a long one here. We're getting into semi hard-on territory here at 7-7

The great thing is the Djokovic-Murray match could be even better. 8-8, its gonna be a battle of will now.

Federer's first break of the match couldn't have come at a better time.

Federer feeling the pressure a little? That was shocking.

I know. I would have given Del Porto a 1% chance to break back.

I think Federer could get broken again here. I'm guessing he's still a bit shell shocked.
