lanny CPHL Free Agency - Batch 4 winners announced

Might Still add a few things but we'll see

If you see any additions that should or shouldn't be there, please feel free to mention them. Very easy to correct

Under the goalies I didn't bother making a new card for them. rather then the Goals Assist and Points, I actually List thier Wins Lost and OT losses.

Well see if this is any use or not for the future

CPHL Free Agency List

Poor effort there.

Looks awesome. If only I had enough money to actually get anyone worthwhile.

The great thing about the way Grant did it this year is that there are so many players available for the first batch... thus teams with a large surplus of cash can't dictate the full FA's. For a Gm to be able to bid 1M on every player they must have 21M at their disposal.

There's going to be some major over payments, plus there's going to be some big discounts to other teams

Plus there's not the chance for GM with big pockets to underbid on the first wave and still have a second chance to land a top FA in the second batch. GM's will need to focus their dollars better rather then throwing high dollars at everything in hopes that one sticks

Yeah this year will be different on the UFA market - the main reason for the size of the list is that there are simply more players, and more better players this year available via free agency than in the past. This first batch represents the "cream of the crop" but there are a lot of other guys still left over that in previous years would have been in this first round.

So it would seem teams are finally letting more players hit the market instead of paying them grid rates and then having those albatross contracts to deal with.

I think it might have something to do with players being rated 1-2 higher after the new sim was implemented after UFAs last year and the grid not being changed to reflect that. All players who needed new deals this year are 1-2 ov higher than they would have been in the old sim and therefore more expensive.

I think GM's now realize how bad it is having average/crappy players making 8mill+.

nah, in my case (let go quite a few)...

Its the locked in 1 way contracts that have a mandatory 3 year term. Way to risky for an older player.

That was the rational....

By the 3rd year many times the deal turns out to be a total disaster.

Was it not always 1W deals for signing your own UFAs? If so, then I can't imagine that being the reason, if not then most likely it is.

Our free agency system as it currently works was implemented a few years back - and I would say it has taken until now for GMs to understand how to effectively deal with it - and to avoid "bad grid deals".

Obviously when Agents were around the players had quite a few 1 way deals.

Without Agents, I believe to ressign a pending UFA a team had a mandatory 1 way deal (rule was in place for quite awhile).

Not to mention the retirement clause, that seems to effect 1 CPHL team a year.
