Default Time for Entertainment Sub-Forum?

A large amount of topics on the off-topic forum are now about various tv, movies, comic, books etc. I think it's time we have an Entertainment sub forum. I think it would be busier then the Tech Forum, and is long over due on Calgary puck.

I would actually include music in that sub-forum. Leave OOT to news, random threads etc.

Yes. All respect to the contributors to them (troutman comes to mind) because they are knowledgeable and the information is valued to an extent. However, there is a plethora of "Here's a random list of indie bands" threads. Not sure that moving it to a subforum is the most appropriate measure, but there are a lot more than there should be on a general off-topic forum, in my opinion.

What would become of the Off Topic Forum if entertainment threads were split out? Right now (and this will change by the minute), 11/20 of the threads currently on display in the OT Forum are related to tv shows, movies, music, etc. Breaking out the entertainment stuff might not be a bad idea but to make it a "subforum" is almost an insult to the number and quality of posts related to entertainment on CP.

Where it goes (forum, subforum) is more just an issue of navigation and display, I like nested trees rather than long pages

I can't stand message boards that have countless numbers of sub forums. I realize that there are only a few here, and I think that's enough.

I say don't do it, just leave it.

Besides this, I can't think of another sub-forum that's needed.

I've just noticed that lately entertainment related posts have dominated the Off Topic forum, pushing other topics off the first page too quickly and letting those topics die out.

I'd still like to see a travel sub-forum, since there are about as many travel threads as there are entertainment threads.

I'd like to see a world without Transformers 2, Spiderman 3 and Indiana Jones 4.

I second a travel sub-forum before we split entertainment.

MMF nailed it on the head. I usually just hit the 'new post' button and navigate from there, so I personally wouldn't notice the difference. But if potentially great threads die out because of too much entertainment/media rehashing then I am in favor of a sub-forum.

I think the tech-talk sub forum has hurt those topics. Lots of people that aren't overly interested in most of it no longer stumble on the threads that they would have posted in or read if they were right in their face in the OT forum.

Is there any way to increase the number of topics that appear on each page?

For me a big reason I never check page 2 is because I have to click on page 2 to view them. Yes I'm lazy but having double the number of topics appear on the main page would mean I'd check twice as many current threads.

That's maybe a good idea, I don't know about double, but 50% more?
