New England should win the AFC East pretty easily. They are beatble this year, but you have to credit them for overcoming a lot of injuries to key players. They need the defence and special teams to win. The Jets have defied logic to be 4-4 thus far, likely end up as a 6-7 win team. The Dolphins started out great, but they too look like a 7-8 win team at best. The Bills have been close a few times, but again a 6 win team at best.
I don't know if I would say the Jets defied logic. The games Geno has played well they have won. The games he hasn't they've lost (although a good game on Sunday wouldn't have mattered much). They have a top ranked D, who got manhandled on Sunday (Dee Milliner is most likely a bust, I don't see how he can fix his issues at this point). Their D will keep them in most of the games, they just need some O to help out. The could win 6 of the last 8 or lose 6 of the last 8. They'll finish somewhere between 10-6 and 6-10. The Saints game is the only sure loss. Way ahead of where they are supposed to be in year one of rebuild.

My mid-season prediction.

Brees beats Manning again in the Superbowl.

I'm still sticking with the Chiefs to win the AFC West. Denver still hasn't beaten any team with a winning record and I'm still not sold on the pass defense. I realize KC also hasn't played a team over .500 but the fact they haven't allowed a single team to put up more than 17 points on them is extremely impressive. Obviously the offense isn't going to put up a tonne of points, but you should win the majority of games where you can keep a team under 20.

I don't know what to think about the Chiefs yet. The Browns gave them all they can handle at home, while CLE was starting their 3rd different QB.

I don't think the Browns are that bad though. They've just been playing with a terrible QB for most of the year. If Campbell keeps the job, I can see them ending up around the 7-9 range.

Cecil Lammey ‏@cecillammey 9m
#Cowboys Dez Bryant: 9th career game with multiple TD (Cowboys are 1-8 in those games) #NFL 20-20 record since start of 2011 season

Cecil Lammey ‏@cecillammey 8m
also per Elias, #Cowboys are first team in #NFL history to allow 4 400-yrd passers in the same season.

I'm serious. If Christian Ponder gets 300 yards passing, would you shoot Jason Garrett on the spot? The Cowboys defense is that bad.

From Brandon Meriweather...as much as a doosh as he is....he does have somewhat of a point.

Quote:
"I guess I just got to take people's knees out," Meriweather said Monday morning in the Redskins' locker room. "That's the only way. I would hate to end a guy's career over a rule, but I guess it's better other people than me getting suspended for longer.

"You just have to go low now, man. You've got to end people's careers. You got to tear people's ACLs and mess up people's knees. You can't hit them high anymore."

"The NFL do what they have to do," Meriweather said. "I guess they felt like suspending me for that game was the right thing to do, so they decided to make an example that they won't tolerate aggressive plays."

"I know everybody's looking at the tape and saying, 'He's a dirty player, he's this, he's that,' which I get," Meriweather said. "But if anyone goes and looks at the tape, I didn't use my head in either hit. I'm moving on from it."

Then he takes a shot at Brandon marshall

Quote:
"He feels like I need to be kicked out of the league, I feel like people who beat their girlfriends should be kicked out of the league, too," Meriweather said.

"You tell me who you'd rather have?" Meriweather said. "Someone who plays aggressive on the field or someone who beat up their girlfriend?"
Hooo boy.

You can't fault the NFL for protecting the head, but they need to find a middle ground so players don't go after knees. I know a knee injury can end a career, but a head injury can be much worse.

Yeah, there are more than two areas to target when tackling a player. He's making the argument that you can only either hit the guy in the head (which could cause concussion and possibly decrease another human beings quality of life) or hit the guy in the knee (which could end his football career). Both the head and knee are two relatively small targets compared to the rest of the human anatomy. Most players in the NFL seem to do just fine tackling without targetting either the head or knee of an opposing player. Most youth football players are taught to tackle at the hips, upper leg or torso. This guy is clearly not that bright, especially considering the comment about another player and his off-field activities, particularly in light of the fact that that player has been diagnosed with a mental illness.

Regarding the Chiefs, I'm not sold on them yet. They've had a string of games where they've played the 2nd or 3rd string QB and even so generally haven't won by much of a margin, especially when compared to the Broncos. They'll likely lose 3-4 games and make the playoffs but I can't see them doing much once they get there. Their D-line has been very impressive so far though.

Bleh, more help still required on Seattle's Oline. Adjustments have been exceptional when Seattle's had 1st Half struggles and will need more of that to get a win. Wilson has to find a way to get the ball in hands to receivers if the Rams are going to put 8 up on the line.

Stupid play by Tate. Though likely a strange continuation of Jenkins vs Steve Smith last weekend where Jenkins trash talk went over the line as well as potential intent to injure, and Smith said he would punch Jenkins in the mouth if he saw him on the street. Not sure why Tate has to fight Smiths fights though.
