Definitely, and frankly just poor drafting. There's been an unbelievable amount of whiffs since that historic 2017 draft, and the roster reflects it. I actually don't mind the "kicking the cap can down the road" mentality when they had Brees, as you need to go all in when you're in a championship window. It's the poor drafting - especially when trading future high picks to move up to secure said poor picks that is inexcusable.
The problem is that, aside from Jerry Jones, Loomis may be the most grandfathered in GM in the league. He's part of the (owner) Bensons' empire, and even helped run the Pelicans NBA team for a few seasons too. He almost feels like an owner, I'm very curious to see what owner Rita Benson does there.
EDIT: as for Allen, seems it needed to happen. Tons of injuries on O, but he's a D specialist and the D was mostly healthy and could never hold a late lead this year. That and players reportedly told the owner that Allen had lost the room...so that's that.
Kinda bummed he's gone as I want the team to stop with these Flames-esque pointless late season surges for a .500 record, and keep bottoming out to secure a top pick. Currently sitting at #2.
