Doesn't sound like they're too keen on the price.

Yes of course. The nuance comes in the level of degree in which it is applied or overcome. When you read traptor's posts, and see things like "clutch onto any shred of mediocrity that they can" and "they will cling to any liferaft that will keep them in the middle", it is apparent that there is little effort to filter his or her bias.

The Rangers seem like a great potential trading partner, huge risk/reward with Kakko but I'm all for them taking a swing like that, the team isn't going to improve by hoarding lower ceiling prospects with greater certainty.
Othmann seems like he'll be a good middle 6 forward with how well he showed in the AHL as well. I'd be a bit disappointed if Cuylle was the main piece coming back.

Brooks may not like it, but if they want Lindholm, they'll have to play ball.
By all means, Drury, go for Monahan if it's cheaper. Not the same player though.

It is very interesting to view responses from the more "black and white" thinkers from the perspective of "shades of grey", which is just our "reality". I often wonder what nuance and context look like from the other side.

First priority is getting the flames the best return possible but ideally, the trades for Lindholm and Tanev are with one or two of Colorado, Vancouver, Dallas, or Vegas. Loads up some teams to face the oilers in the playoffs. Hopefully New York acquires Monahan so the oilers don’t get him.

If Kakko is on the table (especially alongside a 1st?), that'd be a big "W" for Conroy in my eyes.
6'2", skill, and has struggled to find his way in NYR. He's a guy that you hope given a change of scenery and some consistency, could absolutely flourish. It may not work, but the upside is there.

Taking a while to get to 5000

lol, go figure Brooks isn't a fan.
Also if the Flames get Kakko are the announcers obligated to call him by his first and last name at all times and never just his last name like seemingly every other announcer league wide?

You may not agree with my viewpoints and that is fine but I try and remain respectful to everyone on this forum, respect their individual opinions and focus on their arguments rather then trying to find fault with them.
I ask that you extend the same courtesy to me and keep the conversation hockey focused.

Your arguments display a narrow and biased view which seems to reflect a backwards analysis.

Yes because my view is different from yours. I think your view is narrow and biased too.
But I see no point in saying that because it comes off as disrespectful.and confrontational.

Yup - if you can get a potential blue chip piece in addition to a 1st you're laughing.
If you could get Kakko or Byram in a Lindholm package, and Lundell in a Hanifin package and get picks on top of that then I think you'd be in good shape for a "retool"
Somebody mentioned it above...trade for Kakko and Lundell, sign Puljujarvi and create a young Finnish line.

I don't know about GioforPM's view. But I do know that you present your view in a way that pretty clearly shows you have a predetermined conclusion and then work backwards from that to whatever reasoning and evidence supports that conclusion, and leave out anything that doesn't. I believe that is what GioforPM means by ‘backwards analysis’, and if so, he's spot on.

Rangers, Jets, Avs. I'd probably rail it down to those 3 teams at the end of the Lindholm sweepstakes if I were Gm. They have the stuff we want.
Hanifin might get a massive haul in a sign and trade.
Tanev is going to get higher than we think I .....think.

the rumored trades are ridiculous wins for the Flames...especially vs. signing Lindholm to 8x9

Has it not been their philosophy for the last few decades to clutch onto any shred of mediocrity that they can?
They've proven time and again that they will cling to any liferaft that will keep them in the middle. all the insiders, Maloney, bean and conroy have said different versions of the same thing.
I'm sure these UFAs will get traded and thay will be great. But it appears to be forced onto them and the core philosophy is still misguided. Hopefully it has changed and they are intentionally misguiding everyone.
|
They traded their leading goal and point producer before the season even began.
If their desire was truly to wiggle into the playoffs at all costs they don't make that move.
Conroy said he wouldn't walk players to free agency. He hasn't.
Conroy said he wants a younger lineup. He has one.

Yeah, but none of the rumours are rumoured offers. They are are mostly local media speculating what it will cost
